nice..i do not think i would do presses either because your chest workout was really hitting your shoulders too with Incline press. Flat press and 100% with Dips.. with these 3 movements for 5 sets each which you did..itīs enough(in my opinion).

Just got back from an 1 1/2 hr walk up the mountain, nice to be out in the sun and fresh air for a change. I have been swamped with work and only made it to boxing last Monday night, wanted to lift Thursday but couldn`t make it happen.
I miss my workouts but thats just how its going to be for now, getting a new business up and running is a 24 hr a day job, hell I lay awake at night unable to sleep because my brain is running overtime. Definitely hitting the weights tomorrow and boxing Monday, I need this stuff for my mind as much as my body. John.

I took a friend to the butt clinic for a colonoscopy. Unfortunately, he had not adequately prepped so the colonoscopy was inconclusive. He will have to reschedule another one. What a bummer! The prep for a colonoscopy is the worst if you've never had to do it.

I took him back home afterwards. As soon as he walked in his wife started giving him a bad time about not prepping properly. It made me appreciate my wife all the more because she would never have said those things to me even if she thought them.

Anyway, that's how I spent the afternoon yesterday.

nice too see you John....yes you need it for your mind too. you have to try and relax and do it for your peace and well being.

yes i have to do this too because i have Colitis Ulserosa and i was very ill with it in Hospital. The prep is horrible...drinking 3-4 litres of fluid so you sit on the toilet most of the day... :( I do it now every 2 years but i feel better now and running "massages" my colon...or at least i read in an article it helps. anyway i used to take a lot of medication but i do not take it now and my last check up was a year ago i had a small problem(30cm of my end colon is ill)..never really think about it anymore. last night i wanted to just walk but what i did was wrap up a 10kg plate in a thick bath towel in a ruck sack and speed marched and ran..as a young guy i ran with heavier weight but it felt good. I like the pain..just like alex after 7 sets of squats  :o

To be honest with you Don, I barely pay attention the numbers/weight.. It is so immaterial to having a productive workout.. I've only noticed (for the first time in years) the actual numbers when logging in this thread. I train on my own in my gym without a spotter - that's why I get creative with variety/intensity.

I've only noticed (for the first time in years) the actual numbers when logging in this thread. I train on my own in my gym without a spotter - that's why I get creative with variety/intensity.

I also train without a spotter or training partner. Years ago, a friend wanted to train with me. Unfortunately, we were physically mismatched, he being much smaller than I. We spent more time loading and unloading the weights then we did lifting them. I was relieved when he stopped coming to the gym. There have been a couple of times when someone would just jump in an start training with me who was more or less my equal. I must say that when the partner thing works, it really helps push me to do better and reach new goals.

At this point in time, I don't need to be lifting huge amounts of weight. I never was a power lifter, nor did I ever want to be one. Many of them sustain permanent damage to their bodies. For me, working out has been primarily about being healthy and also looking fit. There are so many machines that more or less duplicate the movements when using free weights without the risks involved or the need for a spotter. I gave up using a barbell for bench presses long ago and have never missed it. I have very long arms, so the bench press was never my feature move anyway. When I use free weights it is for those exercises like curls and dumbbell flies where the weight is comparatively light and easy to manage. For me using good form is superior to lifting excessive weight. When using good form the increases in strength and therefore weight come naturally.

One thing I like to do is forecast how much weight I will be lifting in a year if I increase the poundage by a certain amount each week or so. You'd be amazed at how much even a 5 lb. a month increase equates to over a year. If one is curling with 40 lb. dumbbells, hypothetically in a year they'd be lifting a 100 lbs. in each hand. Well, suffice it to say, I am not curling 100 lb. dumbbells. If I were, my arms would either be huge or I'd end up pulling them out their joints. LOL.

I don't know if it is colitis or irritable bowel syndrome, but I go to the john a pretty often. I have hemorrhoids which sometimes bleed. The doctor suggested that the pressure from the hemorrhoids my be the cause of the urge to go more frequently. Up until about a week ago, these suckers were bleeding every time I would sit on the toilet, which had me concerned and then all of a sudden the bleeding stopped and I have been very regular for a change. I can't think of anything I've done that is different which might have cleared things up, but I am really enjoying not trotting off to the bathroom every few hours.

Since we are talking medical here an update on my daughter. Had to take her back to doc today as she is worse. Due to being allergic to penicillin he couldn't give her what he would like so the other meds had no effect. She's on different meds now and had an x ray and will see the doc again in 2 days time. Me, my jaw is much better. I can eat chicken now as before it hurt to chew so can give bj's again ( joke here, haha)

Thank you. Yes that's the problem once you get something with the chest it becomes a weakness and colds just go there. I am not happy about this. I warned her not to put her air con on so low after getting caught in the rain but she's a teen and very stubborn. Now she knows what I mean.

so today i will do a simple but taxing workout...
Warm up jump rope and ABS:
reverse crunches with
Crunches twisting 3xmax reps untill i feel they are worked.

Dumbbell Flat press 5x8-10
Incline Dumbbell press 5x8-10
Decline Dumbbell Press 5x8-10

I will not tri set today as i think with 5 sets and so much pressing i will need the rest in between. however sitting on my ass in between sets i do not like so i will jump rope in between. I will not have a problem with my stamina because my heart is well conditioned. I also feel itīs wise to start with flat press as there is "overspill" to the upper and lower areas. Decline press is also a great exercise that really hits it all too and is very often overlooked.. good if you have some shoulder issues too. I think after 10 sets pressing upper and flat presses i would have difficulty doing Dips and with Bells i can adjust the weight.. so thatīs why decline Dumbbell press.
