Do you do front presses standing or seated?

MrN your thread was moved to general topics.
Damn I hate general topics, but thanks for the direction. Calvin will disagree.

That's all you are going to get Jay.....jokes about 69'ers.   :D

Just getting ready for the flaming. Some of the homophobes and more ignorant types on Getbig, have nothing better to do than make comments about my sexual adventures (I wish!). Maybe I am being paranoid and I certainly can't imagine anyone on the Mature thread saying anything that's not meant as a joke about me being 69 years old, but I suspect the news will get out anyway. Like I said, feeling a bit paranoid, I guess.

Anyway, thank goodness the bronchitis is gone because I would hate to celebrate the passing of another year feeling like crap, like I did for three weeks.

It's a bummer that you have problems with PMS. My wife has always been lucky with regards to PMS. Her big female issue was early menopause which started when she was 34 years old, right after our daughter was born. On the other hand my mom had horrible problems as did our daughter before their respective hysterectomies. My hormones have been screwed up for as long as I can remember, although guys don't get PMS, thank goodness.

There's nothing to flame Jay.  But hit your wife up every week for a whole year for a 69'er.   ;D  Tell her it's to celebrate your 69th year.  I am glad to hear you are feeling well again.  Yes nothing worse than starting your birthday in not a good state..health wise.  I will get through the pms.  I loaded up massively on the B6 and I think it's starting to kick in because I don't have any tenderness in the breasts today.  Swelling is still there but at least pain is gone.  It's an excuse to eat something sweet.   :P  Yesterday I ate a slice of caramel slice with fresh cream.  I am meeting my best friend soon for a coffee and sweet.

I mostly do standing barbell since our seated barbell is adjustable and shakes around alot, or I do seated db either on a low or high back seat.

Don't smoke, it's very bad for you.  I love haunted houses.  When I was in SD back in 2007, I went on a tour of the Whalen House.  It's supose to be haunted.  Didn't feel any presences there though.  I will read this thread when I get back from lunch with my bestie.  I really love this topic.  I am very fasinated by ghosts and things you can't explain.

Worked back today.

Weight 207

Nautilus rowing back, 4X12-10
Nautilus torso back, 4X12-10
Low cable rows, 3X12-10
Hammer reverse grip pull downs, 3X12-10
Hammer one armed low rows, 2X12-10
Nautilus rowing back, 3X12-10

When somewhat lighter on the resistance today, concentrating on full range controlled movements and pausing at the top of the exercise. Instead of feeling spent, I felt invigorated at the end of the routine.

I did a really stupid thing. I put the padlock on the wrong locker. When I went to get dressed, I pulled the key out of my shorts pocket only to notice there was no lock to unlock. I opened the locker I almost always use and it was empty. After a moment of panic, I realized that that locker had a black gym bag like mine in it, so I had used the next locker over. Sure enough, there was my bag and my clothes. Fortunately, most people at the gym are honest, so nothing was missing except my brain.  ;D

I was too embarrassed to ask the desk clerk if he had to cut a lock off. What's done is done.

Not to be morbid, but you have no idea how funny asking my wife for a blow job would be. She is on oxygen 24/7. Granted the air hose is in her nose, but the image of her going down on me is hilarious. Unfortunately, my wife is not healthy enough for sex. We settle for cuddling and giving each other back and foot rubs. Not very sexy, I know, but whatever works and since we are still together after all these years, it would seem we have figured out what works for us. Unlike some people on Getbig, my wife enjoys my daily exhibitionistic tooth brushing and beard trimming in my bright colored underwear. She thinks they are hot....especially the orange pair. Guess I am just a piece of meat to her.... ;D

Not speaking for Chaos, but I prefer seated presses. Besides a number of machines at the gym which emulate front and rear presses, there is always Smith presses, either front or back. There is also a Smith like machine where the bar raises in an arch. This machine is great for standing barbell overhead presses. When you press up the bar moves to the front away from you. This movement would be impossible using free weights, I suspect.

Not in my lifetime. I don't believe in divorce, plus I love my wife. On the other hand, she may want to divorce me sometimes because I can be a bear to live with. Anyway she thinks I look hot in orange underwear so she's a keeper!  ;D

Do make too much out my training. I am a lifetime narcissist. Looking the best I can is very important to me. It is not like I train for anyone else. If there is a benefit beyond looking fairly decent in my bathroom mirror, it is that I am healthier than most dudes my age (bronchitis notwithstanding).  ;D

Just keep training, Ed Corney didnt start until 33 and won many titles. All of us Bodybuilders are Narcissist. I train a few people one is older like 62 has a knee issue, believe it or not call me crazy but slow squats under control is the best exercise you can do, fuck extensions they just irritate the knee joint. The dude called me back next after the slow squats said the knee felt much better.

I will keep the slow squats in mind. So far what I am doing is working. At this moment I have ZERO knee pain. When I worked legs on Tuesday, none of the movements bothered my knee at all, including some fairly heavy leg presses. I've heard people say the extensions irritate the knee before. Maybe it is how they do them. They don't bother my knee at all regardless of whether I do them one legged or both legs. I have not done them on any other equipment except the Nautilus leg extension which for me minimizes any jerkiness in the movement. Also, I am not using a lot of weight @ max 60 lbs. per leg. I keep the reps pretty high, shooting for the burn in my quads.

What normally has bothered my knee since it started acting up was mowing the lawn....not kidding here. Our front lawn is on a hill and I think there is something about the unevenness that troubles the knee. I did mow the grass yesterday though, with no problems at all.

I am doing machine hack squats, both front facing for quads and reverse for my hams. I am pretty careful on the front facing hacks. Talk about slow squats....I am doing these super slow and with not a ton of resistance either.

Where am I? Do you mean since yesterday when I last posted on the Mature thread? Are you having a mature (senior) moment, Donny?

I've been back at the gym for over a week. My workouts are going well. I am pretty much over the bronchitis and aside from a little bit of an upset stomach, which I assume is from the antibiotic, I feel good. My legs are sore from Tuesday's workout which makes me happy because they don't always get sore, so I never know if I am doing enough to get them to grow....like Steve's.  ;D
yes i know mate but i have to come into the mature thread Via my Profile and click onto my mails because a fool has blocked me from seeing the Training section on the main menu. i asked Ronald if i am banned and he said no because only he can do this. so conehead can delete, edit but not much more and on other threads and sections here not all mods react like conehead. I cant do any kind of leg extensions, I messed my knees up playing basketball could jump really high dunk under the goal at 6'2". Slow Back squats and Front squats all I do no knee pain what does that say? It says they are natural movements.

There's a blue line that says getbig bodybuilding boards, on the left of that line is a +/- box, chances are, during one of your tear filled meltdowns to "smash" me, you hit that box. That minimizes the boards in that zone....where the training board is.

You are absolutely right that squats are a very natural movement or position. There was a time when humans didn't have chairs to sit in. It was common then to squat around the fire. Many cultures today still squat down as a way of relaxing rather then standing around. My father-in-law would be in a squat position in front of his aquarium for hours on end. Of course when one adds additional resistance, it does change the dynamic some. And as we all know, good form is of the essence.

My knee pain is caused by a miniscule tear. I have no idea when the tear happened. It could have been decades ago. They don't always cause problems. Mine did only recently. The pain can come and go according to the doctor. Aside from some movement that could further tear it, probably not from lifting at the gym since I am very careful with all lifts to use good form, there is not much that will change it. It will not repair itself. If it becomes problematical, I will discuss orthoscopic surgery with my doctor. As it stands now, with no pain, I am not inclined to worry about it.
