Saw my orthopedist today. He's a crazy guy. He was wearing the brightest Kelly green jeans I have ever seen and he was rocking them too. I wore shorts, so he could check out the progress on my knee. It was below freezing today. I am so accommodating. Anyway, my knee is doing well. He prescribed four more week of PT, dialing it back to once a week. There is still a little fluid on my knee which surprised him since it should have been all gone by now. He didn't think any treatment was in order. He praised me for all I have done to insure that the microfracture surgery was a success.
My physical therapist told me that I am using a lot of weight resistance at this stage of my recovery. She apparently doesn't remember I was leg pressing between 800 and 1,000 pounds prior to the surgery. I feel like I am still pushing "pussy weight" on the leg press. But hey, that's okay as long as I am progressing. My doctor measured my calves and the right calf is 1/4" smaller then the left. They may never have been even, but it just goes to show how easily one can lose muscle size. What is weird to me is that my right leg looks fat as compared to my healthy left leg. Does muscle turn to fat after all?
It is not a topic of the mature thread, but it is sad about Derek's passing. He certainly got lost on the way to good health. Lesson learned, looking good (as in having big muscles) is not the be all end all. Being a healthy and fit person should be our goal regardless of how we look....Steve's amazing quads aside. LOL!
