Went off my whole body routine and doing a split again. I don't know how they call training the whole body in one day a beginner routine. It's the hardest routine you can do.  Today I did chest and arms. No warm ups listed.

Bench press 2 x 6
Incline bar press 2 x 6
Flat dumbbell flies 2 x 10
Push ups 2 x max

Barbell curl 2 x 10
Alternate dumbbell curl 2 x 8
Single D handle bicep cable curl 2 x 12

Conventional tricep push downs 2 x 10
Lying tricep extensions with an ez curl bar 2 x 8 (elbows really hurt with these)
Single arm reverse D handle extensions 2 x 12

Barbell forearm wrist curl 2 x 20
Reverse wrist extension 2 x 15

Ab wheel 2 x max
crunches with plate behind head and legs on a bench 1 x40
Ab bicycle type crunches 1 x 50
Machine crunches 2 x 35

Ivanko gripper 2 x 20


I rested about an hour after this then went for 5K run. It was 88 degrees out and I was really shot after the run. Tomorrow legs. If I am really ambitious I might try to ride outside on a bicycle after for a leg burn and cardio.

Happy birthday Donny!

Today I did legs. No warm up sets listed.

Leg Press 2 x 12
Dumbbell squats 2 x 12
leg extensions 2 x 20
Seated leg curls 2 x 15
Standing leg curls 2 x 10

Dumbbell side bends 1 x 15
Leg raises 2 x 20
Hip ups 2 x 20
Machine crunches 2 x 35

Leg press calf raises 2 x 20
Standing calf raises 2 x 15
Seated calf rasises 2 x 15

Neck work

Notes: With the leg press I leave the back board low and try to really bend my legs. Seems most leave  the back board high and do shallow leg presses using the weight of a car. I get more out of it by using less weight but really going deep.  Dumbbell squats is one of the best exercises I have ever done. I use wrist straps. I stay upright and go so deep the dumbbells come within an inch of the floor. It's a difficult exercise if you don't deadlift the weight with bad form but truly squat. I know most say don't do side bends with a dumbbell but I'm looking for functional strength. I never noticed any bad development. Hip ups is a form of a reverse crunch. I lie on my back and have my feet facing the sky. I push my hips up toward the sky. It really gets the lower abs.

I'm second or third (so old now I forgot!) generation and was not taught German (not so cool to be a Kraut in Amurica during WWII so none of us spoke it even long after the war), so I had to copy that one down of the interwebs.

back superset routine

hammer pulldowns 'side grip' with low cable rows x3

bent over rows underhand grip with rope stretch standing pulls to waist x3 got up to 225 on rows

single arm dbell rows 90's with wide grip pullups still managed 10 pullups each set all x3

weighted hypers x3x12

bi's
cable curls x3
seated curl machine x3
cable single arm curls done together curl and angle arms out x3

abs

various shoulder raises as a warmup, than back= 10 sets of 16 reps longbar lat pulldowns 100 lb wt,than 10 sets parallell bar pulldowns 12-16 reps 100-125 lbs. 5 sets chinups bdwt by 15 reps. db rows w head supported 4 sets by 15 reps 45 lb dbs ,  parallel grip chins 2 sets 12 reps. than chest 10 sets benchpresses 6-30 reps w 100 to 210 lbs, floordips on bars 5 sets of 30 reps,6 sets of db high incline presses 5 sets of 20 w 45 lb dbs, than 5 sets cable crossovers. than various crunches and leg raises.... yup i do volume training anymore. :D
same w/o only added 2 more sets of pulldowns and 2 sets of chins, and finished with 235 by 5 in the bp. hey i'm 62 years old what do you expect. ::) ::) ::)

Today is a day off from lifting. I ran 5.1 miles on the board walk looking at the ocean.  So many women running today.

 I notice a new trend on the boardwalk. The women after the run are doing body weight exercises. One was doing leg raises another push ups. I even saw one doing repeated jumps onto a bench.

I will have a drink to celebrate Donny's birthday today. Damn booze. I would be ripped if it wasn't for booze. Tomorrow is back and delts.
