I am trying to up the weight/reps/intensity with every session but realistically know this is not always possible and I don't want to train every 7 to 10 days as Mentzer advocated toward the end of his days.  It hurts too much to train that freaking hard, especially my joints.  I have to find a happy medium and that is what I am trying for lately.

One set of palms in pull ups to failure.

One set of BB rows to failure.

One set of palms in lat pulldowns to failure.

Two supersets of machine flyes/machine bench presses both to failure.

Two sets of machine sit ups.

Done.

And well done oldtimer and Donny!

I don't know how old your are but you have to be protective of your joints. Heavy weights can be really grinding to them. Some say light weights and high reps but that can be just as bad for joints. I think Bill Pearls method of high volume and low reps might be the method to preserve joints. 5 sets of 6  to 8 reps might be the a great method for us as we age. 5 sets means the weight has to be moderate. The low reps meant a limited amount of use of the joint. All of this is of course is speculation.

Thanks Scotty.. I agree with Ritch. more sets and more reps. Leave the heavy ego lifts for the young Bucks.. ;D donīt have to train with the volume of Mr Pearl but the Heavy duty style training  i would leave out regardless of what so called experts say about never truly reaching your potential .. ::) Just my 2 cents as you boys say.. Bill Pearl still lifts and was a very strong guy in his prime.

Great exercise. I will be doing them later. The off set Grip is a bit awkward at first but when you get used to it it works.

Donīt know if this really is Reeves voice but he did bring to my attention the value of an off set grip on incline curls.

Great footage on Reeves. Obviously not his voice. He doesn't appear in top shape but he still looks amazing.

Just a cardio day today. Ran 3.1 miles in the abandoned railroad trail by my house. I use a GPS garmin watch. The thing has some gremlins in it. I don't know if I got a bad one or the technology isn't fully there. When it works it gives me the time, distance, miles per minutes. When it acts up I hit the stop button it will stop then turn itself back on as I'm doing my walking cool down so I don't know exactly what I did.

Wife wants to see that 50 Shades of Grey movie tomorrow. Last time she took me to a woman's movie it was that Magic Mike. In a packed movie house I was the only guy in the place. I sunk low in my seat as the movie played and I was hoping no one would recognize me as I walked out. Now history repeats itself.  ;D

At least you won't have to read the book if you don't want to. http://www.doctoroz.com/blog/paul-hokemeyer-phd-jd/why-men-should-read-50-shades-grey

-Wife's in the hospital again. I took her to the hospital yesterday and she was admitted. She has diverticulitis and has lost enough blood that they've given her two transfusions. She won't be released until they are sure the bleeding has ceased. Naturally she is very upset because this is just another thing to have wrong with her health as if she didn't have enough going on already.

Actually that is Reeves own voice.  I have his first feature length film, Ed Wood's "Jail Bait" which was followed by the musical "Athena" and in both of those the studio used Reeves real voice.  Additionally I've heard him speak on TV back in the 70s on afternoon talks shows like Mike Douglas' show and the voice here is the same as it was on TV, i.e., deep and masculine.

I am something of a prude, so I will happily pass!   ;D

You and your wife shall again be in my prayers this night.

Be well.

As for training I did okay today.  Six warm ups on DB laterals followed by one working set.
Next one warm up machine shoulder press followed by one drop set to failure.

Cheat BB curls.  After one warm up I did a drop set to failure followed by alternating DB curls to failure.
Warmed up with tricep push downs  and then close grip machine presses to failure followed by a drop set of tricep push downs to failure.

Two sets of machine sit ups.  I will now rest for at least two days.

The voice is not in sync with his mouth while hers appears to be. That's why I said that.

Hmmm...it was on my laptop but that could just be due to me being out of sync!   ;D ;D

But it does sound just like Reeves in the movies I spoke of as well as a couple of interviews.

She is really having a horrific combinations of problems. Prayers. Make sure to take care of yourself through all this stress.

Hope all turns out well, brother!    Saw a small fender bender yesterday right in front of me.  They both pulled over right away.   Just got home from work and now have the day off.  No lifting today as I need the rest.  Going to eat something at a small Mom & Pop restaurant in  a bit.

I am kinda hungry.

Please keep us posted on how your wife and car are doing.

That stinks. Years ago a truck backed into my brand new car. Realize I only owned 4 brand new cars in my entire life. Not a good feeling. Insurance and a collision shop should put the car back together.

Today was cardio day. I got dressed and then said fuck it. Took the wife to the movies to see the movie the Kingsmen.  Not Shakespeare but I thought it was fun entertainment. I liked it from the beginning to the end but the wife hated it. It's  a cross between super hero movies like Spiderman and James Bond. A lot of fun if you let your inner teenager be free.  Then went to a Chinese buffet and ate till I thought my stomach would explode. We then hit an Irish bar and had several pints of Guinness. Met a Troop I use to work with.
