So, a little weed, a little coke, will most likely not harm you on the long run either. Is that okay, too?
Remember, weed and coke are against the law, but those are man-made laws, not biblical laws.
Thus, its okay in Gods eyes to do a little coke, a little weed, as long as its in moderation and no bodily harm is done?
Yep, was waiting for the follow-up reply about recreational drug use.
Off the bat, what we have is a non sequitur...."a little Coca-Cola consumption in moderation is fine, therefore a little recreational cocaine use in moderation is fine." No, doesn't follow.
Also, the original Coca-Cola formula may have contained fragmentary traces of cocaine, but not the Coke formula we drink today...throwing that out there also.
Marijuana and cocaine alter the mind even temporarily and can lead to an absolute addiction....idolatry.
Recreational consumption of marijuana and cocaine is outlawed by our government with some allowances for medical marijuana...I think even cocaine is used medically. We are instructed in scripture to abide by the laws of our government provided they don't stand in direct opposition to God's law.
Use of drugs recreationally (in that they alter our minds unnecessarily) is a sin and is found under the idea of sorcery in scripture. I've discussed sorcery and it's greek root "pharmakeia" previously and repeatedly.
Drugs that are used lawfully by licensed, medical professionals for specific medical issues is an altogether different issue. I've used hydrocodone and it makes me feel loopy temporarily, but it's use is related to a specific medical purpose so I see no issue.
In summary, recreational use of marijuana and cocaine violates governmental law (which believers are instructed to follow), can lead to idolatry via addiction, is often associated with wild partying (which believers are to avoid) and engaging in sorcery which is mind altering and takes our focus off of God whom we serve.
