I don't disagree with your point; but if it's really only one, then it was a complete fucking waste. Such a silly old cliche.

But can someone briefly explain the opposition to background checks? What's the argument here?

Some people think the gubmint is going to take all the guns, do all the unregistered ones they have, the better. So they're okay with felons and crazy people getting them, s long as they can make profit selling them, and own many anonymously.

I've always hated that loophole. Nothing at all to stop a felon from doing his 15 years for shooting someone, getting out, driving straight to gun show or anywhere else, and buying ten rifles in a private sale. With no background check.

Nobody her defending this loophole?

Is this in response to my background question? If so, how does "take all the guns" answer it? Pre-purchase, they don't own it yet.

No where in the 2nd amendment does it say "...unless he's been in a jail or a nuthouse."

Because you shouldn't have to agree to have your privacy invaded in order to be allowed to get something that's already your right.
