If you want to stop traffic accidents of the drivers who drive without the driving license, will you ban cars from the people who have the license? Same thing. Here is the problem.

There will be a 50-year period, from the time the guns are banned, until they're mostly gone.  During that time, good guys will turn them in, and bad guys will keep them.  Bad guys will gain power for decades.  Sure, guns will rust, bullets will run out, and over time, the place will be safer.

HOWEVER, for that 50 year period (for most of us, the rest of our lives), the USA would totally suck.
