I mean, if you're opening up a business, and youre religious, and do not want to sell to the LGBT community, you think that is the first thing they would check before opening up the business, i.e., can you refuse service to anyone.

And if the law was established while they were in business, then they would have had 2 options: 1) sell to the LGBT community to avoid being penalized or 2) try to overthrow the bill/law.

Either way, they are crappy businesses owners for not knowing any of this. And, if they did know all this, and broke the law, then they should be penalized. You don't like the law, pick yourself up by your bootstraps, and open a bakery where that law doesn't apply.

I wonder this too. I remember reading that they had to close the bakery. I assume it was for financial reasons. Maybe they hocked their home. Maybe their church helped them out.

The bakery originally agreed to do the wedding, both ladies were friends at the time.  However, on the day of the wedding, she told her that she didn't bake it because of religious beliefs which pretty much fucked up the wedding when you have to go get one at last minute.

The couple only wanted an apology and instead the bakery pretty much tells them to kick rocks along with refusing to give them a refund...that's the reason for the lawsuit and federal complaint and it would not have been that much if they had not decided to fight the whole case.


Point being, they fucked themselves doing that.  A simple apology would have prevented the whole thin. g  However, they raised close to a million dollars so the fine is a drop in the bucket

If you own a business you can say fuck off I will not sell you something - would a black owned bakery be forced to sell a cake saying "white power"? Let's say the company was called white power (some odd electric company). You can force that and sue if they don't make it?
