Circuit training if done properly will give you a great effect and keep your heart rate up and i have ranted on a couple of times about PHA training because it works. Bob Gadja was not the originator of this but the idea was great. Most guys like the thread suggests either rest too long between sets or/and are on their phone.

I love circuit training becuase I hate cardio. My gym , gold's, sucks.  I been to the 4 gold's around me and they are almost always packed or have limited  equipment even at slow hours. Hard to circuit without being a dick.
I would change gyms but I'm only paying 30 bucks a month.

I use my cell phone during exercise for GPS tracking of runs and mile timing, and to play music over a bluetooth headset while exercising.

Usually a "fall out" means that there was some sort of disagreement that led to 2 people not talking or separating or being estranged from each other.

So, you stopped talking to your brother because you had to wait 5 minutes between sets? haha lol  ;D ;D

Tested your theory.  Had Master of Puppets on my cell phone (bluetooth earbuds, 40 ft range) to start.

Did week 3 dead lift day on Wendler's 5/3/1

Texted between sets with getbigger.

On last "test" set where you're supposed to get a couple reps got 10.

5 assistance sets of weighted chins, texted with gettbigger in between.  Video taped a few sets with phone to make sure I wasn't cheating.

30 sets of 20 sec sprints at treadmill max (6 min mile) - 10 seconds rest in between.   Watched baseball game on MLB.TV on phone during.  Used round time on cell phone to time sets into earphones.

Tabata cardio with battle ropes, used cell phone for round time through earphones during music.

Don't see what the big deal is.  I could've easily done the workout "leaving my cell phone at home".   But I didn't, and it only enhanced my workout.

I mean I guess it would have been better if I had a lifting belt, gloves, gallon jug of water  and a gut.......but I didn't, so I made due.   ::) ::)

Of coarse it can. Ifnyoure just chatting,how can you stay focused on what you're going go do.next when youre constantly interrupting that focus with something completly irrelevant to what you should be doing?

Sorry, but when I see that kinda stuff it just shows a complete lack of seriousness in what the person is supposed to be committed to.

I know for a fact that most.people that train hard wouldn't even have the desire to text. Hands shaking, winded, sweating your balls off, I'm just looking to finish and get out at that point. Not waste my time.

If I am doing 3 sets of dumbbell curls and I finish my set, send a quick text, then do another set, I am not too sure how this interferes with my workout. I did that today a few times and still got in a great workout.

Yes, but its not wasted time. I mean, you take a break between sets anyway. It would be a whole different story if you spent 10 minutes texting. But I did my set, sent a quick text, rested for about 20 more seconds, then did my second set. How did texting interfere with my workout?  ??? ???

I just showed you an example of the opposite.

I don't need to think about my next set for the full 60 or 90 seconds.

I sent a text, put the phone down, got over the bar, focused, and killed the set.  Beat the reps by so much, I now have to use a different max to work the weight scheme off in week four.

If I sat there an "concentrated" would I have gotten two more reps?    Am i supposed to walk back and forth real fast, wriggling my fingers, and breathing heavy out of my nose to pysche up instead?  lol, of course not

I'm not texting when I'm sprinting, pushing the prowler, squatting, or deadlifting.   Who gives a fuck what happens in between?

Thankfully both gyms I belong to have sitting areas where people can chat away on their phones because they don't allow it in the workout areas. Mine stays in the locker and I use iPod working out.

Worst things is people sitting on equipment texting. They should have a rule about that too.

Totally agree with this.

If people are texting so much and having a lazy workout because of it, that's one thing.   But just texting during normal rest is harmless.

I have no issue with that and I will say thats what most people do when texting/surfing.  Women seem to be the worst about texting while on a machine/bench.

I see people at my gym texting while lifting all the time, and its usually when working legs (obviously). Saw some women texting while leg pressing.  :-\

Just the other day this saggy old bastard set up a gay circuit of 3 excercises around the pulldown machine then sat on on the pulldown playing with his phone for 15 minutes.

It's not just in the gym I hate phones in general and wish they had never become commonplace, liked it far better before we all had them
