At the time he went down there was an sideline test by the AT. The hit came in the first quarter with time to spare. He came out and showed all of the signs of concussion and didn't pass. He sat out the rest of the first and second quarter plus half time. He asked to go in, team doc performed another field test and he passed. Protocol is to go a dr after the game and when he gets cleared he can return to play but he still had to sit out the following game.
OMG, to put a kid back in AFTER showing all the concussion signs?
That's beyond horrible. Read about them. I had to write an article on them and I was shocked at how serious they really are. Particularly AFTER a person gets the concussion, they're extremely vulnerable for a few hours.
I cannot imagine why any team doctor would perform another concussion test, at all. IMO, and you can be honest with us... adding that "caught a concussion and recovered and returned in the same game" is one of those heroic, legendary quotes that people use, to show they're overcoming great obstacles. No doctor would diagnose a concussion, as you said he showed "all of the signs"... then let him return in the same game... and this is a minor, a high school kid?
Is that part exaggerated/embellished, for the sake of showmanship? It's cool, if so.
