The Insulin Index is a method used in conjunction with the GI measurement. It is was supposed for decades that diabetes was only due to high glycemic foods, however, this was debunked in studies were high postprandial insulin levels were measured in people who hadn't et any carbs.
It's an interesting debate nevertheless, and way of eating that suits some, but unmanageable to most.
There Are Too Many Vagaries In Terminology In The Postprandial Studies Of Insulin Levels Of People Who Had "High" Insulin Levels Allegedly Without Eating Carbs. What Constitutes High Insulin Levels? Protein Do Spike Insulin Levels, But Nowhere Near As High As Carbs Do. What Foods Did The Test Subjects Really Eat? Saying No Carbs, As In What? The Carb Filled Whey Protein That Was In The Charts Above?
Many, Way Too Many, Supposedly Scientific Studies Are Done By The Food Industry, And/Or The Supplement Industry, And Are Designed To Produce A Specific Result, And Only Appear To Be Scientific, To Sell Products, in This Case Carbs. It Seems That Only In The Fields Of Nutrition And Physiology, That There Are Loads Of One Off Experiments, That Are Never Independently Repeated, That Are Passed Off To The General Public As "Science." That Doesn't Happen In Astronomy, Chemistry, Or Geology Even. If You Don't Want To Get Type II Diabetes, Lay Off The Carbs!
