I have to honestly say that Franco looked amazing that year and, when you consider the terrible injury he was coming back from (only 4 years earlier), it really was one of the best comebacks ever. However, he had ZERO separation in his quads. His legs weren't really small and he had good calves but absolutely no separation or definition in his legs. When he won the title in 1976, not many bodybuilders had great legs. By 1981, legs were a big part of competition and you had Padilla, Platz, Callendar and Dickerson all with excellent leg development. For that reason alone, Franco could not have been any higher than 5th. Once Danny was announced in 5th, the crowd erupted into boos and it didn't stop all the way to the end of the contest. Arnold and Joe Weider wouldn't even come out to raises Franco's hand onstage. Arnold took the victory pics with Franco backstage.
