Bodybuilding is more of a functional sport than swimming, thus bodybuilders have more functional strength than swimmers.
I mean, there are more uses to being a bodybuilding. Being a bodybuilders allows you to pick up a couch, move a car, pick up and walk with groceries, work under a car, and holding heavy tools, etc.
How often are swimmers (or people) in water? Hardly ever. If I am ever being attacked by a shark or drowning, I will call a swimmer. Other than that, their functional strength is only useful in a large body of water.
If I need my couch moved or groceries lifted, Ill call a bodybuilder.
