It's a masterpiece to be honest. Another one I liked is foucaults pendulum. Only book I ever found impenetrable no matter how much I tried by Joyce's finnegan's wake. I think it's moronic and ultra boring.

It's been about 20 years since I have read it.

It's a bit of that with some complex layering and a lot of random information, formulas and side text.
I think you need to really engage your imagination while reading it otherwise it becomes dry and meandering. It's worth the struggle and very rewarding.
