CNN’s Kaitlan Collins just torched Trump’s pathetic attempt to blame “vandals” for his expensive reflecting pool disaster.
Trump has been claiming on Truth Social that deranged political maniacs “went in with a knife and cut” the expensive “American flag blue” lining, creating massive gashes.
Collins pointed out that Trump has provided no pictures or video to back up his claim. She then reminded him that back in May, he was in bragging mode about how wonderful the renovation was going to be, he said the material was so strong that you couldn’t – cut it with a knife.
“This will last for at least 50 years,” Trump crowed. “You’ll never have a leak. It’s very strong. You couldn’t, if you had a knife – I don’t want to give anybody ideas – [Editor’s note: lol] if you had a knife, you can’t even cut it. So strong, so powerful, it’s like powerful rubber. It is beautiful. Sealed.”
Beautiful. The most beautiful. Beauty like you’ve never seen before.
Now he’s suddenly singing a different tune with zero evidence, pictures, or video to back it up. And he’s repurposing the knife reference to now mean that’s EXACTLY how it happened – Democratic saboteurs armed with box knives! This despite the practical and logistical difficulty of cutting the floor of the pool for three hundred feet under 30 inches of water.
Collins rightly called out the obvious load of excrement Trump had been shoveling trying to sell the inessential project to the American people.
The pool, which ballooned to $16 million thanks to no-bid contracts handed to unqualified Trump goombas, went from the bluest of the blue to green algae soup in record time.
Trump’s solution is for workers to dump chemicals into it, fence it off like a crime scene so the dead ducklings floating in the mess aren’t visible to curious tourists.
As far as Trump fails go, this one is pretty funny with top metaphoric relevance, with the exploding budget, hasty execution, and the two-pronged failure of the algae mitigation and paint that doesn't stick.
Kudos to Kaitlan Collins for calling out Trump’s lies and shining a light on the absurdity of it all, and especially for getting under his thin pasty skin while doing it.
The Reflecting Pool is truly the Trump administration in miniature: failure covered in excuses and downright falsehoods. We deserve better. I THINK PELOSI DID IT.
