Perhaps I was being a little too loose with the words I was using. Facts would be more apt than truth. Many countries still rely on facts and realize that facts simply can't be disputed, however, in the US it appears they in fact can be.

Truth is a dirty word in politics, at least the way you are describing it, which tracks more like opinion and thus adds subjectivity to the mix. I agree with your take on that, that's politics, but denial of facts is not. That is a new phenomenon or at least one that hasn't been seen in a working democracy. It's post-truth/alternative facts.

Besides the economic issues, debt etc.. the only way to solve the problem imo is personal. Narcissism, greed, the dark triad etc are running amok and you can see it in the collective consciousness. Capitalism has sacralized time and motives and humanity is now suffering for it. Trump is capitalism (its a fine system ftr) manifest. Profit over motives etc..
