Reid pushes back on Sanders suggestion that a Democrat with plurality of delegates should be the nominee
The Hill ^ | 02 21 2020 | Marty Johnson
Posted on 2/21/2020, 12:59:02 PM by yesthatjallen

Former Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) on Thursday said that the Democratic presidential candidate who has a plurality — but not the majority — of pledged delegates coming into the Democratic National Convention in July shouldn't automatically win the party's nomination for president.

"Here is how I feel about this: I do not think that anybody — Bernie Sanders or anyone else — should simply get the nomination because they have 30 percent of the delegates and no one else has that many," the longtime senator told The Washington Post.

Continuing, Reid said: “Let’s say that he has 35 percent. Well, 65 percent he doesn’t have, or that person doesn’t have. I think that we have to let the system work its way out. I do not believe anyone should get the nomination unless they have 50-[percent]-plus-one.”

Wednesday night's debate in Las Vegas featured six candidates, none of whom have shown any signs that their campaign will stop operations before Super Tuesday on March 3. Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) is thought to be the favorite for Saturday's Nevada caucuses, and a win in Nevada would give the Vermont senator two outright wins and one virtual tie, in Iowa with former South Bend, Ind., Mayor Pete Buttigieg.

It’s not gonna work for Bloomberg. He has no grassroots support and he has huge opposition from within the party.

Throwing money around is only going to get you so far.

Warren, Biden say Bloomberg’s NDA reversal ‘not good enough’
NY Post ^ | February 22, 2020 | 11:20am | Jon Levine
Posted on 2/22/2020, 2:36:19 PM by conservative98

Joe Biden and Elizabeth Warren are unimpressed with Mike Bloomberg’s decision to release three women from their nondisclosure agreement, saying the former New York City mayor needs to do much more.

“Just not good enough,” the Massachusetts Senator told reporters Friday. “Michael Bloomberg needs to do a blanket release so that all women who have been muzzled by nondisclosure agreements can step up and tell their side of the story in terms of what Michael Bloomberg has done,”

The criticism was swiftly echoed by former VP Biden, a tag team which echoed their joint attack on Bloomberg during the Democratic debate earlier this week.

“Today’s release essentially tells the public nothing — we don’t know how many women signed these NDAs, what percentage of NDAs this represents, or what categories of signed NDAs exist that are excluded,” Biden’s campaign manager Kate Bedingfield said, The Hill reported.

Both candidates suggested they would only be satisfied with a blanket release of all NDAs that involve the billionaire.

MSNBC's Chris Matthews speculates Democrats may be better off with Trump as president than Sanders
Washington Examiner ^ | February 22, 2020 05:34 PM | Mike Brest
Posted on 2/22/2020, 6:16:49 PM by E. Pluribus Unum

MSNBC host Chris Matthews wondered if the Democratic Party would be better off if President Trump wins reelection rather than if Sen. Bernie Sanders takes over the White House.

Matthews, 74, brought up the possibility that centrist Democrats may prefer Trump over the socialist Sanders during the network's Saturday afternoon coverage of the Nevada caucuses. The host of Hardball with Chris Matthews was leading a conversation about how centrist candidates were splitting the vote, likely a detriment to one another but a benefit for Sanders.

"I’m wondering whether the Democratic moderates want Bernie Sanders to be president," he said. "That’s maybe too exciting a question to raise. They don’t like Trump at all. Do they want Bernie Sanders to take over the Democratic Party in perpetuity? I mean, he takes it over, he sets the direction of the future of the party — maybe they’d rather wait four years and put in a Democrat that they like."

"I mean, that’s the big question, right?" Adrienne Elrod, a former senior adviser to Hillary Clinton, responded. "And you know, the narrative that you’re starting to see play out, Chris, is that there are people that are concerned, strategists that are concerned that Bernie Sanders being at the top of the ticket will force us to lose the House. I don’t necessarily think that’s the case."

Matthews has frequently disparaged the Vermont senator in recent days, accusing Sanders of being "full of it" and arguing that he'd be a "miserable president" if he got elected. He has also predicted that Sanders would lose 49 states if he went up against Trump in the general election.

The network host also warned his viewers about candidates who support socialism.

Can't speak for the other two folks but I'm fine with this. Not salivating however, if you are implying I'm turned on.

We have a former almost nude model in the White House right now and she's probably the best person there. My guess is that Melania is the main person keeping the nut jobs including her husband from 'jumping the shark'.

Could you imagine if Bernie wins 90+ percent of these races and they STILL end up screwing him and giving it to 'Stop and Frisk' Mini-Mike Bloomberg in Milwaukee  ???

And the sad thing is, I wouldn't put it past them to do such a thing!

I can imagine it.  There'd be blood in the street of Milwaukee this summer.  It would make Chicago of '68
look like the women's suffrage movement.

Dem party either goes socialist or splits in two when they fix the convention against Bernie.

Bloomberg already stated others need to drop out so they have a chance to avoid the Bernie red wave on Super Tuesday.

Welcome to the revolution bitchez...

You mean because he is 78 years old and recently had a heart attack which resulted in two stints being implanted? Most people wouldn't or shouldn't be surprised if he has additional health issues over the next 9 months.

Bill de Blasio to Pete Buttigieg: ‘Try to Not Be So Smug When You Just Got Your Ass Kicked’

.@PeteButtigieg, you clearly don’t understand the movement @BernieSanders has built. It reflects the true values + hope of working people in America. They simply want a country that puts working people first. Your critique tonight speaks for the American elite, not the majority— Bill de Blasio (@BilldeBlasio) February 23, 2020

And hey @PeteButtigieg, try to not be so smug when you just got your ass kicked. You know how we form a winning coalition to beat Trump? With a true multi-racial coalition of working Americans: something @BernieSanders has proven he can do + you haven’t. Dude, show some humility— Bill de Blasio (@BilldeBlasio) February 23, 2020

The barbarians, er, Bernie Bros are knocking at the door, James.

Sanders will look like Ronald Reagan compared to the future candidates this mob will be putting up in the years to come.

AOC 2024??

James Carville: "You're A Fool" If You Think Bernie Sanders Can Win By Expanding The Electorate

"ABC/Washington Post poll comes out, Buttigieg is plus 17 against Trump with college-educated women and Sanders is at 2. These are the kinds of facts that people have to be presented with. We have two-thirds of the Nevada caucus-goers want to win the election -- I don't know if us in the media are sufficiently telling people the risks you're running by doing this. I think voters need to be appraised of what what's going on here. "

Democratic political legend James Carville reacts to news that Sen. Bernie Sanders will win the Nevada presidential primary.

"The entire theory" put forward by Bernie Sanders "that by expanding the electorate, increasing turnout so you can win an election, is similar to climate denial," Carville said. "When people say that, they're as stupid to a political scientist as a climate denier is to an atmospheric scientist."

"If you want to vote for Bernie Sanders because you feel good about his program, you don't like the banks on Wall Street or you don't like pharmaceuticals, that's legitimate, I understand that. If you're voting for him because you think he'll win the election, politically, you're a fool."

His supporters are slobbering all over themselves for him to name Nina Turner as his VP choice.

Could you imagine if he checks out a few weeks before the debates and she becomes the heir apparent to take his place?  :)

Bernie Sanders defends Fidel Castro's socialist Cuba: 'Unfair to simply say everything is bad'
Fox News ^ | February 23, 2020 | Vandana Rambaran
Posted on 2/23/2020, 9:49:34 PM

Sen. Bernie Sanders, the frontrunner for the Democrats' presidential nomination, doubled down on his support for some of Cuban dictator Fidel Castro's policies, saying in an interview that aired Sunday, "it's unfair to simply say everything is bad."

Speaking to CBS News' "60 Minutes," Sanders, a self-proclaimed democratic socialist, pointed to social welfare programs introduced under Castro's regime that he described as redeeming, despite the communist dictator's often repressive human-rights violations against Cubans.

"We're very opposed to the authoritarian nature of Cuba but you know, it's unfair to simply say everything is bad. You know? When Fidel Castro came into office, you know what he did? He had a massive literacy program. Is that a bad thing? Even though Fidel Castro did it?" Sanders told Anderson Cooper.

Fidel Castro relinquished power to his brother, Raúl, in 2011; Fidel died in 2016.

Some Republicans jumped on Sanders' comments. "It really makes a difference when those you murder at the firing squad can read & write," Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas, tweeted.

In a resurfaced speech given at the University of Vermont in 1986, Sanders praised the socialist policies implemented in Cuba by the Castro regime and criticized bipartisan efforts in the U.S. to tamp down on Castro's spread of communism.

While Sanders said in the new interview he "condemns" any human rights violations Castro committed, he also took aim at President Trump for his unlikely friendships with some dictators or strongman leaders, including North Korea's Kim Jong Un and Russia's Vladimir Putin

"I do not think that Kim Jong Un is a good friend," Sanders said. "I don't trade love letters with a murdering dictator. Vladimir Putin, not a great friend of mine."
