Just rent a car on the rare occasion you take a long trip.

Excellent suggestion!

Automobiles are like shoes; you need to try them on before you can tell if they fit and are comfortable.

I was watching a commercial for Lincoln cars and it got me thinking. I want to get a car to drive on long trips and weekends and want it to be nice. I was thinking something American made such as the Lincoln, or maybe a foreign. I've never owned a car before, always trucks and SUVs. I want new and I want it to be a comfortable sedan. Any thoughts, Parker et al?
Get the Lincoln if you want to walk in water, talk to yourself while making weird finger movements, and pretend like a Bull in the middle of the road knows what you are saying, while you are in your car.

Seriously, think of the Caddy CT6
http://jalopnik.com/the-2017-cadillac-ct6-platinum-is-too-good-to-care-abou-1790763309

All depends on what you want. VW is banking on their new seven seater Atlas to help them in the American market...and with diesel gate, they will need help moving it.

And

luxury cars tend to crash in price after about 4 years. so you can pick up a really cheap M5 and similar for 20-25% of their price new

the reason is because you pay for the status of driving a new model luxury car

once the model is out dated it loses the status and turns into a piece of shit wannabe poser car

fact of life

Yep, and many times with engine issues. Hopefully it still has the warranty. M engines are known to have more issues than a room full of rich ex-wives.

I doubt I will still be driving it 50 years from now, unless dead people drive.

why are you guys pretending to afford M5 Bmw's and the like  ::)

You're all 9-5 slaves like most...  Not a wise financial decision to waste most of your sallary on a vehicle for transportation.

No no no. You know this is not true.
Buy a sporty c class instead.
Yesterday I saw a Maybach with Belgian plates driving around my neck of the woods.
I look to see who is behind the weel--> a bad ass Maroccan MOFO in a nike tracksuit.
Mocromaffia baby! Mr. Turtle just driving between Antwerp and Rotterdam to do some honest trading. Nothing to see here people!

another option is buy a 10 year old car that is collectible like a 911, it wont lose value and if its rare enough a model may appreciate. for example pretty hard in the UK to find any 911s, Astons, Conti GTs etc for under £25k.... That is basically the floor price.
