Give me a break, he could have shot any one of them the moment they tackled him and it would have been justified.  The gun went off during a struggle.  No issue here at all.

Just to be clear, you think he intentionally fired that shot and you think he would have been justified to shoot one of these teens, but he should have waited until after they tackled him?

To be clear,

It does not matter if he accidentally or intended to fire the shot at the exact time it was fired.  Justified either way.  He had no idea that they were going to bum rush him to the ground so he was not "waiting" on anything.  It happened and he acted accordingly to protect himself. 

I fail to see anything wrong at all with his actions.

It matters.  Shooting a warning shot is one thing.  Accidentally pulling the trigger near 20 teenagers is something else.  That's why it is call a negligent discharge.
