Particularly, the group American Action Network—a group the Post notes is “affiliated with” Ryan’s Congressional Leadership Fund Super PAC—“is targeting 30 members it says are part of the House Freedom Caucus,” DeBonis writes.

“The Republicans’ American Health Care Act versus Obamacare,” a narrator says in the Ryan-connected ads. “Obamacare is full of job-destroying mandates. The new plan eliminates them. Obamacare put bureaucrats in control. The Republican plan puts patients and doctors in charge. Obamacare stuck families with soaring premiums. The new plan provides more choices and lower costs.”

The problem with Obamacare is the mandate.

However, if we are going to be honest with ourselves as a nation, you will not be able to create a national healthcare system and use private insurance companies without the mandate.

You have to have the young people who never get sick, forced to pay for it, so that those who do get sick, can be covered.

There is no other mechanism to do so other than single payer healthcare systems and that is always going to be called "socialist".

You can't have it both ways. People just don't want to admit it.

It's easy to pull an Ivan Drago and say "If they die, they die.", but we believe ourselves as a nation to be "better" than that.

That money is being paid by those older Americans you say need the younger peoples payments to help pay for theirs. Do those young people pay taxes or get returns generally? Do the older folks who need help paying for their insurance pay taxes or get returns generally?

Don't fool yourself Tu, this is nothing more than an entitlement on the backs of older, higher income individuals.

Look the fact of the matter is at some point a larger % of people are going to have to put skin in the game/more skin in the game to make something like Obamacare work.

I'm pretty sure he could put it directly into a charity or something and people would not have a problem with the check getting to him.

Yeah, IDK exactly what he's doing with it.  I'd have to look back on what he said about "donating" it, but imo he already knew beforehand that he couldn't refuse to accept a paycheck so it gave him a perfect opportunity to say it.

He donates more than the 400K (or whatever it is) every year, I'm sure, so saying what he did was too good a PR opportunity to pass.
