IF gas was guaranteed to be 1/2 the price it is right now, and Auto manufacturers CONTINUED to re-make all their classics like they've done with the Challenger, etc.. I'd LOVE to order a new one of these
with the 440-V8 and loaded with all options!!!!  (THE big one on the bottom, the ROAD RUNNER)

Anyone saying an all motor car is the only way to have fun hasn't driven a properly sorted turbo car with comparable power. I embrace the new turbo car era we are seeing. Forced induction is the only way to make big power and make it daily drivable.

for example. Start at 13:30 [ Invalid YouTube link ]

That car has a totally stock motor. Just a single turbo kit, and upgraded fueling and tune. No cams, no forged pistons or rods, nothing internal done. Straight up bolt on stuff. For 15k or less, the 335i is the best car for your money if you want power. Throw another 10-12k at it and you can be making this level of power and be destroying any mercedes AMG, audi rs or bmw m car on the street, plus making everything american look slow hellcat included. And you can daily it.

How will this car handle this boosted power it was not designed for? Parts will bend and brake no?

What all cars made look the same are mostly safety regulations. Trump is an idiot if he thinks that lower economy rules makes us cars great again. American cars just don't sell well in the rest of the world and if there fuel consumption etc. will even get worse ... they're dead.
Also simply to big for euro roads and parkingspaces. You cant even drive in to an avarage parkinggarage with a Ford f150, and that is a tiny car for usa standards.

Turbo LAG sucks, and has completely ruined the car industry by standardizing on 4 cylinder turbo's in an effort to appease European regulations.

I have a supercharged v6 and it delivers power both instantly and smoothly.

Lol you wont find any new euro cars with real turbo LAG. Als smooth instant power.

The agency believes that the standards, which requires an average fleet-wide light vehicle fuel efficiency of 54.5 miles per gallon by 2025, will result in consumer EPA window stickers surpassing 36 mpg for passenger cars and light-trucks. That’s more than 10 mpg higher than the fleet averages of today.

http://www.thetruthaboutcars.com/2017/01/epa-maintains-fuel-efficiency-standards-2025/

The 54.5 MPG standard set was completely unreasonable.  It would have required almost every car and truck to be a hybrid and would have added thousands of dollars of extra cost and complexity to every vehicle.

The gaying of European cars didn't start until the 90s I would say.

15k for a 335i is a car with almost or over 100k miles, reliability on the n54 is horrible and he says throw another 10-12k to make that power on a car and engine that's already sketchy.... have fun with tons of reliability problems

If u are goal is to be making power only, euros aren't really the choice, like I said choose an American or Japanese car, much cheaper alternative

Sure have and it sucked.  Was an M3.  Boring looks, decent power, boring driving experience.

I did once drive a 1988 320is around for a month and I loved it!  MUCH BETTER than todays run of the mill garbage that BMW puts out.

BMW is dead.  I laugh when I see blacks tooling around in a 5 year old 7 series that cost 120,000 new that they paid 9000 dollars.

Great cars.  ::)

BMW is dead?  You simply don't know what you're talking about.  You drove around a 1988 3 series and claim it's better than anything BMW puts out now?  You've clearly never driven a new M4.  IF you drove an M3 it was old because the M4 is the 2 door coupe, and M3 is 4 door sedan now.  German engineering is far better than anything put out by American car manufacturers.

In terms of steering and chassis BMW isn't what it's used to be

Go drive a e46 M3 and e90 version, sure the m4 is fast but it's lost it's appeal of balance, more power and torque for sure for the masses, many people complained the steering is too heavy in older models so they changed it and BMW has gotten softer for years now, go read up on it, many reviews and owners express the same thoughts

Go drive a v10 m5 with exhaust or a v8 M3  8)

I've tracked the m4, I liked it but prefer an m2

Reason why many BMW guys prefer older M's

The e30 M3 from 1987-1991 is HIGHLY sought after, look up the prices it's going for  ;)

European influence on American Cars from the 90s to the 2000s has been shit and ruined US cars.

I am sorry but this statement is completely false.

M5 influence on CTS-V

For the record I would take the Caddy 10x over but it wouldn't exist without German influence.

There are other examples, this is one of the more obvious.

European, American or Japanese, cars today are a lot fatter today due to all of the safety standards.

Speaking of boost, yes it is fun and it is where you need to be to make great power, BUT...big cube N/A has its place too. My 5.7 Challenger was stroked to a 410 (6.7 liter) with Thitek heads and a big cam. Yes, I could have made more power with a blower, but there comes a point where it is too much for the street. My motor makes 493 rwhp and 534 rwtq. Great for the street and sounds vicious.

Want more power from a NA engine? Nitrous and/or an E85 conversion with increased compression.

Not a big American car fan but I'd take the 2005 Ford GT over any italian or german sports car today.  These care went for $200K and now are fetching $400-500K

Tell that to all the guys making anywhere from 600-900whp on stock internal n54s. There are plenty online just a quick google will do. The n54 is the new 2jz and we are only at the beginning of it's development cycle; I'm sure there will be built and stroked n54s pushing past 1000whp in the near future and even further than that after a while. One of the best motors BMW has made in a very long time.

and yes single turboing an n54 to the high 600 low 700 horsepower range would cost about that. You don't need to rip the engine apart or anything, just basic bolt on turbo kit, exhaust, upgraded intercooler, clutch kit, higher flowing fuel pump and injectors and an e85 tune. DIY and you would definitely do it for 10-12k budget. You could go further though, and add a better radiator, bigger fans, oil cooler and tranny cooler. Highly advisable if you live somewhere hot and are going to daily the car.
