My guess?  It was an AR-15, with a completely legal Slide Fire Stock.  What now?   ???

Shit, I didn't even know about those.

People are assuming it's automatic gun fire but he was probably using a crank if it indeed was fully auto than he either has a class 3 license which is doubtful or somehow had it converted. 100 round drum and a crank is what I'm guessing.

ive meet a handful of people with class 3 paperwork , mainly for silencers and whatnot but have seen it

extensive and expensive - head of ATF in your countys/ states signature, background checks, etc

Also...he  sued the Cosmo for a slip and fall...didn't win in court.
So he might have sour grapes against the casino industry???

ALso--the news JUST said he lost THOUSANDS on Friday night playing video poker.
300$ a hand---playing multiple machines at once.

It's no wonder he was in that large expensive suite , wonder if Mandalay Bay comped him the room from all the gambling he was doing.

This seems more preplanned. Unless the guy was completely insane he had to know that he was either going to spend the rest of his life in jail or be taken out. So; maxing out his credit card wasn’t an issue.

I spent the day in that same room type as mentioned prior. It was between floors 31-34, cannot remember. I do not remember the windows being able to open. The windows went from the floor to the ceiling and around 10' high ceilings. You can see downtown Las Vegas from that view. It was beautiful. Perplexed how he was able to fire from there. I have not read every post either though.

Brother of shooter:

The brother of the man who police say killed at least 58 people and injured about 515 said his family is "dumbfounded" by details of the deadliest mass shooting in modern U.S. history.

"We can’t understand what happened," said Eric Paddock, brother of Stephen Paddock, identified by authorities in Las Vegas as the gunman who opened fire from a hotel room during a nearby outdoor concert.

Eric Paddock said his brother was never an "avid gun guy" and didn't have any background in the military.

Eric Paddock also said there is "no reason" the family could imagine his brother carrying out this massacre, reports the Las Vegas Review-Journal. "It's like an asteroid just fell on top of our family."

A motive for this shooting has not been determined at this point.

The last time Eric Paddock spoke to his brother was after Hurricane Irma, when his brother texted to check on their mom. Eric believes their mother was the last one to speak with Stephen Paddock.

"There's absolutely no way I can even conceive that my brother would shoot a bunch of people he didn't even know," Eric Paddock said. "There's no rationale. There's nothing anywhere that said why he did this."

I think most people would say the same thing if their brother did it...

Hopefully some good comes out of this tragedy. Ritzy hotels need to pony up for airline-type security now. Armed guards and xray machines.

It sucks......but that is the way it has to be now. You shouldn't be able to sneak an automatic rifle into a prominent hotel.
