I saw Don Long in person in 1996. No way was he close to being in the same sentence as Ronnie Coleman

This proves that you're information sucks

idiot,, first of I'm an ifbb professional tht went all out against my fellow pro athletes.. my information is the best shit you wil find on the internt since its the truth about what we do and its all in the bible

second.. when I talk impressiveness I talk thickness of raw muscle

both ron colman and don long has the most of those qualitys,, they had the best amount of raw thick muscle on them..

hormones is one thing.. but to be legit muscle enhanced by hormones is another..

they both were unmatched and most impressive,,

Saw Dorian with his wife Debbie at thr World Trade Tower observation deck. Was there for the 98 NOC. It was after he retired from competition and eas still about 300 pounds or so. Still gives me an eerie feeling just eriting this.

Only met 2 outside of shows or expos. Bob birdsong was at my gym In the 80s. I just remember think By he was as wide as he was tall. Veiny as fuvk (no homo).

About 3 years ago, I was eating at some Mexican place in Newport Beach and rich piano sat next to me.  He was massive as shit. I think I had chicken enchiladas

Same here. Which gym?

BEEF, I have either met or worked out with or worked with most of those individuals you have mentioned above …. plus many more. So with your permission I’ll post some stuff I can recall about a few of them.

Nothing earth-shattering or of extreme interest here … so you have been warned but the following may be a cure if you are suffering from insomnia!

Starting off with ……

BOB BIRDSONG …… Met Bob a good number of times. but he was most impressive at the Mr. Intertnational contest which was held in Tijuana many years ao.

I’ve written about that event a while back which I thought was interesting because it involved Joe Wider, Franco, Arnold, and a very anti-Arnold and most aggressive   Sergio  and a very impressive Birdsong who won that event that afternoon beyond any question of  reasonable doubt.

Upon completion of that contest most everyone in attendance paid numerous visits to numerous TJ drug stores.

I assume that everyone in attendance had a head-ache and needed aspirins for relief!

Not too many years later … Bob and his wife and his daughter invited us to dinner after some contest which was held within one of the So. Cal. Disneyland area hotels.

I have forgotten the name of the restaurant but it was popular among the So Cal bodybuilders because  it was packed with everyone who was anyone within the world of So Cal muscle … and this place served gigantically huge portions of appealing vitals  at very appealing prices.

Order the Turkey Special  and you were eventually served half a turkey and all the trimmings on a very huge turkey platter.

Year’’s earlier (way before that TJ event)  I first met Bb when he was out of shape … he was still in good enough shape to win any
regional contest.

He had that so called ‘heredity advantage”.

JIM QUINN .... I only worked with JIM a couple of times but on both occasions he impressed me as one of a relatively few super-nice guys I was fortunate enough to meet and converse with within the world of lifting heavy things!

Do not get Jim mixed up with Mike whom I have never met!

BOB PARIS .... I first met BOB when he was just beginning and most no one had ever heard of him just yet. That occurred in Hawaii shortly after he had moved to California with a good friend whose name I have forgotten ... but shouldn't have.

If anyone can help ... I believe he is a para-medic today and most likely a retired one possibly in Hawaii.

Then I was present when Bob beat Rory at one of the national contests held in San Jose Ca.... the name of which I have forgotten. That was a deserving win and I can sort of recall congratulating Rory on the recent birth of his daughter at a function held immediately after that contest.

Years later I again ran into Bob and his 'best friend' (Rod??) and invited each of them to jump into an open-ocean tank and spend some time with a couple of dolphins.

Bob enjoyed ito the N'th degree and swore that they were actually communicating with him.

And like Cory Everson's dolphin visit, the critters prevented Bob from jumping out of the 'tank'.

Bob and Rod were photographed by world famous Herb Ritts which photos were included in a book ... the name of which escapes me at the moment.

I do recall Bob as an intelligent and well spoken bodybuilder and in my  humble opinion .... one of the best of all time.

Does anyone have the official explanation of why  Bob and Rod broke apart?

Berry Demey .... Another one of ultra super nice guys in the game of lifting heavy things.

My initial meeting occurred so many years ago that it is completely forgotten but I kinda/sorta recall that initial meeting was due to Marijo and Hanu's invite.

If you don't know them ... you're way too young to have any interest into my recollections, so you may want to go away and read something of more interest.

After many years had passed and while at an OLY event in Las Vegas I get a tap om my shoulder and a "Hey, "Stunt", How are ya?!"  and a "Do you remember me?"

I had to think ... but with a bit of effort... my memory bank went into overdrive and I said to myself  very quietly  ... "This must be Berry's son!"

Only to realize after a lota effort that it actually was the original Berry himself in the flesh!

For you young-guns who fail to understand ... Berry appeared to not have aged at all over the previous 30 years or so.

So he introduced me to his daughter and the competitor whom he had trained for  one of the Only events and we proceeded to talk about the good old days and made commitments to stay in contact.

But I'm bad at staying in contact, but that may change after a New Year's resolution.

Berry ... one of the ultra best guys in the game.

And almost ageless!

I hope he's reading this!

I saw Ronnie Coleman in the lobby of the Mandalay Bay one year.  I don't know if impressive is the right word but he was so big that he didn't look like a real human being.  It was crazy seeing that dude up close.

Don Long was a huge guy, but nowhere near many listed in this thread. And yes, I’ve seen him in person, as with most named.

Yes. I've seen various incarnations of Ronnie. From 1999-2017. He's just different.

- Barry DeMey in Hawaii, 1986. Huge to a kid, looked like a movie star.
- Barbarian Bros @ Pasadena club, late '80s. Thick as fuck in their flannels, especially sideview.
- Birdsong @ West Covina Jack LaLanne's, late '80s. Cartoony midget, all wide and lumpy.
- Vic Richards @ eatery, early '90s. Big, obviously, but I was maybe immune by then. No jawdrop.

Hans Hopstaken was by far the most shredded in person, saw him daily @ Foothill Gym. Like a ghoulish anatomy chart.

The single most intimidating human I’ve ever seen was Warlord. Everything about him screamed Not To Be Fucked With. And his strength was staggering. Benching 455 like it was 135. NEVER seen such weight moved so effortlessly. Inclined 365 with the same ease.

When I finally mustered the nerve to speak to him (I was around 19), he turned out to be one of the kindest and encouraging individuals I’ve ever met. Spotted me on dumbell presses and was extremely motivating.

But his size. Dear Satan.

I've have seen a lot of pro bodybuilders in street clothes. Without a doubt it was Mike Katz in his prime. The rest of the pros near him looked like just regular gym rats. For you younger guys he played in the NFL for the Jets prior to bodybuilding.

JOHN KEMPER ... Saw him in top shape often in those good old days when he competed against the likes of Hawaii's Enie Santiago and possibly even a very young Bob Chickerillo ... but don't put me on the stand and swear to that.
