also if you do not incorporate flies into your chest day i think that would help you improve a lot. the fly movement is a more accurate representation of how the chest is supposed to move and in that regard is better than the bench so you would benefit from doing this exercize. i suggest using a machine to do flies only because most people do not do dumbbell flies correctly and you have to focus on much less using the machine (you dony have to stabilize the weight, or makesure it hits your chest etc)

True.  Flyes and rows are the most incorrectly performed bodybuilding exercises.

If you're not Asian, what are you?  That fat slob holding the drink is not you?  That guy is definitely Asian and could NOT push 100lb dumbbells for 9 clean (full range) reps.

To prove you're not trolling, all you have to do to more pics of yourself with the name SF1900 in it, with the name of this thread.

Youve been here long enough to know that the gimmick "Jon Harridan" was using those pics last year. Then, Walter Sobchak randomly started to call me "Asian," and of course, DJ181 (who started to post those pics) and ESFITNESS believed him. I was not the who initially started the rumor/trolling--I just went with it.

I’d say flyes are prob the best for a big wide chest and yes most do them wrong. For me flyes should be bent arm and just do the bottom half of the exercise as once you go past that the weight is on the shoulder joint.

i've accepted the fact that, after 30 years of training, my chest is not a strength and just gotta live with being all shoulders and back.

Is there any merit in pinching the shoulder blades together while bench pressing? I read using that technique involves more chest and less shoulders. Or, is it just broscience?

I guess something like this

Everyone and everything says to do this but for me it’s always been awkward.

I think by now MOST people know its not, but there are people who still think I am 30-40% bodyfat, despite posting some pics in this thread.  ??? ??? ;D ;D :D :D :D

However, some people still think I am Asian--people have met me. I am not Asian, but its funny that they continue to think so.  :D :D

Bullshit.

You have a disqus account which you've used to leave comments on worldstar. You're asian and if you live in frisco chances are you're chinese.

Never knew that.  I don't follow every thread.

Again, all you need to do is post gym pics with "SF1900" in it and that would legitimize you.

It is not a horrid movement. Inflexibility in the shoulders and chest make it a problem.
Pushups are a inferior movement to barbbell bench press if your goals are max muscle and strength.
I still occasionally do them as a finisher.   ;D

from an injury perspective pushups r superior. if you stopped benching entirely, and switched to pushups.... u would lose no size and further improve.

I don't want to be legitimized. I don't care. I am not the one who started the trolling/rumor, therefore, I have nothing to prove.

However, I guess this sort of legitimizes my statement, as this was made from the gimmick Jon Harridan in 2013. Other than that, believe what you want--Ill live to see another day.  :D :D

https://www.westside-barbell.com/blogs/2010-articles/bench-workouts

Laura Phelps-Sweatt benches 505 pounds at 165 pounds bodyweight, which is unbelievable. How does she do it? Let’s look at her speed day. Laura’s raw bench is 335 pounds,

Her bench shirt adds 170lbs to her lift.

If you don`t have the genetic propensity to be a big bencher, there`s not too hellish much you can do to become one.

Here`s a few tips I wrote about a few years ago:
