Every weekend my recruiter would pick me up and head down to mcrd to train and he'd be sure to point out the store on base where they sold beer and he'd mention (every fucken time) "we work hard & we play hard" and imply drinking.. Didn't seem to matter when I reminded him I was only 17(or 18? I forget)

Membership into the Officers Club,  NCO Club or Airmens Club was practically mandatory and parties were common place. Around the early 90's the leaders started looking at the DWI's, missed movements and other alcohol related things a little differently.

Had he known that.. he would have pressed duty in Okinawa. Spent 5 years stationed there and you had access to the Philippines, Korea, Thailand and mainland Japan for 10 dollars on a Space Available flight
