Agreed, it is all about the money for the networks, obviously. But it is funny how liberal TV hosts/comedians can get away with being rude, harsh and hateful and that's considered funny. But let Roseanne try the same thing and it's career suicide.
There is always a moving line which can't be crossed without repercussions. One could successfully argue that Rosanne was just being Rosanne and they'd be right. Times change though and maybe it isn't the right time for Rosanne's to be herself. Comedians are notorious, successful and famous for 'pushing the envelope', think Lenny Bruce, George Carlin, Kathy Griffin, Joan Rivers and many many more. Apparently, Lenny Bruce when too far since he was arrested for being his comedic self. Hmm, which is worse, getting arrested or getting your namesake sitcom canceled?
Considering her age and the fact that the television show made her famous, she might have really fu.cked herself. To her credit, she hasn't been accused of sexual assault. That is instant death for celebrities.
