You want to make sure you are burning fat not just calories bro, takes the guessing out of it. Stay in that range 70 to 80% of your maximum heart rate. Key to getting death face ripped!

Thats HIT cardio, I'm not really versed on that, all I know is when I hired my first coach, one of the first things he instructed me to do was buy a heart rate monitor, perform all cardio at 70-80% of maximum heart rate, its science, instead of just doing cardio like I did in the past and because I was sweating a lot I thought I was losing fat, maybe/maybe not, I might have been burning muscle or if it isn't intense enough you aren't burning anything and just wasting time.

Thanks, Go! But now I gptta buy a hear rate monitor.  Pls recommend the best one to get (not one that you gotta wear around your chest tough) but I do have more than one on one of my many cheap wrist bands which I never use.

I am walking 4 to 6 miles (an absolute minimum of 10,000steps) every other day or more in 100+ degree temps but I don't believe that has any affect on my heart rate. I walk fast but don't run!

But I do feel great and my Doc claims that I am very young for my age .... and to keep on walken.

I used to know all these cardio details like an expert, but as I got older ... I got stoopider.

Refresh my mrmory on the Max Heart Rate formula ... which I believe     desolate has already done ( 220  -  your age and then multiplied by .6 and .8 ?????)   but it may be great to go into further detail for Marty and some of the rest of us less than wise-guys.....

No intent to be an asshole here but I think Marty and the rest of us who may be interested and stoopider than myself ..... will discover some great results via cardio activity.

Jeff Everson and Cory used to do 40 -60 minutes of cardio before breakfast.

What is the importance of that early mrning cardio?

Thanks for starting this topic, Marty. I love this kind of health related shit/talk!

Hey Stunt, maximum heart rate is 220-your age, so I try to do cardio at 70-80% of my maximum heart rate,  so basically 220-your age × .7 or .8. You can get a Fitbit, theres no chest band, just a watch that tracks many things as well as your heart rate

So you are hitting hard cardio 4 times a week?

Damn dude! You's a beast😲

I will attempt hard cardio 4 times a week but it may be too much

Once a week hard cardio ain't enough as it lose my conditioning level if I wait that long

Twice a week I can improve my level but I think 3 times is most likely optimum

And I will try 4 times and if it's too much back off to 3 or even 2 times a week

Easy cardio at 60% or lover is no problem but once the intensity level goes above 70% then you gotta be careful with how often  you do it

I train boxing twice a week and each session involves hard cardio basically brutal intense circuit style and once on my own  I hit a steady state aerobic threshold session for 20-30 minutes but I will try and add in a second one to bring me up to 4 hard cardio bouts per week

Wanna spar brosef???😉😆

HEENOK, Walking is great for you. I suggest you Google "10,000 Steps a Day" and read it thoroughly and then download a Pedometer app on your cellphone which will count your daily steps for you among other things.

But if you want more accurate daily activity stats other than what that phone app offers, take Go4's advice and look at a good  number of FitBit devices.

Hey, GO4, A few weeks ago I bought a FitBit Ionic with one extra band for $300 at Sam's Club (regular price was $339), but I got shit for brains when it comes time to set up technical stuff such as this Ionic watch, but I did try and ended up taking it back for a full recovery because 'I are stupid'.

But now I may be getting one of those smaller FitBits that don't appear too complicated.

My question here is ... I hate running for a number of reasons but I have absolutely no problem walking 4 to 6 miles per day or per every other day (depending on the LV heat).

Under those conditions, what must I do to  lose body fat? Or is it absolutely necessary to get my heart rate higher than my normal 4 - 6 mile walking heart rate? (At present I have no idea what my heart rate is while walking relatively long distances, nor do I know how long it remains higher than my resting heart rate)

At present I am only counting 'steps per day' with a 10,000 steps per day (PLUS) with my cell phone app without tracking any heart rate.

So back to the store to purchase one of those less than $170 Fitbits.

Do I 'gotta run' to get my HR up to the losing fat plateau?

No need to say, "Diet" as I am well versed in that regards.

Stunt

Try the recumbent exercise bike

You can train all out on it without stressing the joints

Tempo is good which is 20 continuous minutes at a level where you can keep a conversation going but just barely

Interval work is good too try 6-8 2 minute intervals with 2 minutes easy between each one

I ran a sub 2 minutes half mile in high school so I kinda know something bout all this 😎😎
