I can’t understand why people are downplaying this and refusing to believe the grave reality of the situation. This is the real deal, probably equal or worse to the Spanish Flu but now add international travel to the mix.

The people freaking out are the people who understand exponential growth.Again, it's looking like it's 5x or more infectious and 20x+ more deadly. Actually think about what it's like to have 1 person infect an average of 5 people, compared to flu infecting 1.3.Then think about those 1 out of every thousand dying of flu, compared to 20 out of a thousand dying from getting coronavirus.Then think about the fact those flu deaths don't overwhelm the hospitals, then think about the almost certainty the corona deaths will.At that point you can throw the 2% fatality of corona out the window because if people who need respirators, iv etc are not getting medical care then that % will go through the roof.Think about what the figures are going to look like in a month,2 months etc...

Trump called the politicizing the virus for political gain a hoax. We have one death and that's because Trump stopped the flights from China from coming in. He declared this an emergency early as opposed to Obama who waited till their was around 1000 deaths from the Swine flu in the US then appointed an Al Gore flunky as the czar in charge of fighting it. Trump picked the number two most powerful man in the country to be the liaison between the government and the doctors and scientists of the CDC. Make no mistake Democrats are using this disease as a political weapon. The stock market has crashed due to their fear mongering. Nothing would make Democrats happier than for the economy to fail so they can blame Trump so they can regain power to line their pockets.

CDC estimates that flu has resulted in between 9.3 million and 49 million illnesses each year in the United States since 2010.Multiply that by 5 or more, then factor in because more people get infected and get infected quicker, they can then pass it on much quicker, the exponential effect it will have.

if we just take the middle range of those numbers and multiply by a conservative 5, that's 30 million x 5.150 million Americans, USA population is 327 million, so it's basically 50% like predicted.
