Nice setup. I have these stupid cars in my garage (I have to park on the street or driveway) and no one is giving that up so I can work out so I don't have any room for gym equipment. Having a home gym would be a dream come true. I would be able to train by myself and not have to wait on people texting or watching TV hogging the machines. Why the hell do they have TVs in the weight room? I can understand in the "cardio" area but not in the weight room. As if these fatsos don't watch enough TV as it is.

But man, do I miss the gym. They're supposed to open on the 19th with restrictions such as reservations and time limits. That means I'm going to have to join another gym and after working out in one then drive across town to finish up at another gym. I think I might have better luck joining a privately owned gym instead of the big chains like 24 (which is the one I go to as it's the closest), UFC, or Power House. Chris Faildo owns in a gym in town and though it's about twenty miles from where I live he probably will be more slack on the rules.

The private gyms are becoming more popular and I believe with all this corona bs  boutique type gyms will continue to pop up. I feel for you that's why I wanted to have some options. I didn't show everything but I am close to having all I need. I definitely sped things up when I saw what governors were doing to gym owners.

Now just finish those walls and you're all set.

Walls and ceiling will be done before I add much more. The other side is finished basement.

This is all real men need. not pussy machines.  ;)

:D

I have a rack/bar.  In some ways you are right but if you have some injuries the machines work well.

Thanks GA.

I have really pushed down my bf to lowest it has been since I was very young. Def the most vascular I have ever been.

I've been waiting to have surgery for an injury that happened over 40 years ago.  :-\. Best to have low bp and be in good shape before any ortho procedure.

I got on an Ironmaster bench, dumbbell waiting list a while back, looks like its  coming soon to be be delivered. i think one of our resident whacky-dems recommended it. straw maybe.
i also have a titan dual-pulley machine coming in July, i managed to get a rogue 1/2 rack w/ spotter arms on CL with a bumper set (300 lbs). Can SQ,a nd bench in this thing.

i wont be going back to gym, gotta book two 1-hr workouts at a time, get temp taken upon entering, and just not being around dummies these days is a blessing to not be around them.

got sixteen 10-lb plates at walmart yesterday for the dumbbells, so 80's and down to 20's I can do. havent gone over 100's for anything in ages anyways.
i did want to wear my new shirt to the gym to get some mad looks though, I may go once since my membership has a little time on it left.
im sure id get some mean, tough angry looks from those tough dems. (shirt courtesy of my VT Strongman league training partner, unsure where he got it).

Looks SpaceAge!    I wanted one of these several decades ago and while my post added nothing of worth to this thread (but yours did!) I hope this photo makes up for that.   ;D

Garage sales and that Craigs List thing is where my brother gets his. He likes traditional Country and bands like Rush and that group that sings that ridiculous song "Freebird".  They're actually okay but I can't recall their name.  Frank Sinatra I can remember.  Ella Fitzgerald I can remember but that group I cannot, LOL!

did you mange to buy anything yesterday over at Ironmaster
I got the notification they were queuing up people and were then going to randomly put them in line when they starting taking orders.  The one thing I'm waiting for (they hyperextension attachment) is still backlogged so I didn't even bother.  Looks like it was kind of a cluster fuck

Sports performance and stressing a muscle for strength and hypertrophy are entirely different. Momentum, by definition, means you are no longer using pure muscle contraction to move the load. It is a product of the initial explosive force on the load which carries through the rest of the movement. It's like when you throw a baseball the initial force is explosive enough to keep it moving on its own. When you do it, say with a bench press, the initial force on the bar is much greater than the weight of the bar and then gets lighter as the weight movement is aided by momentum. This is not optimal for two reasons: you muscle is not under tension nor contracting under the full force of the weight through the full range of motion and also you are more likely to injure yourself because the initial explosive push puts much more stress on the joints, muscles, and tendons, then if you were deliberately pressing it. Again, it's the difference between pushing your fist against a brick wall as hard as you can and punching the brick wall.

I respectfully disagree with your premise. An Olympic lifter pulling a weight doesn't apply an initial  explosion and rides the rest up through momentum. He is pulling as fast as he can through the range of the pull. Even powerlifters try to push the bench as fast as they can. Of course it doesn't move fast because of the weight. Power is the most important attribute in so many sports. It's how fast you can produce that strength. Bet Mayweather couldn't bench 225lbs but could hit harder than a 400lbs bencher because of power. Power and strength are related but it's very possible to be strong with bad power. How many so called power lifters have a poor vertical leap and terrible sprinting speed?  You would be hard pressed to find an Olympic lifter with a poor vertical leap and poor short sprinting speed. The difference is power.

The owner of the commercial bodybuilding gym I go to is a martial artist. He owns a dojo right next to his weight gym. He put a heavy bag up in the weight room so he can hit it without leaving to go to his dojo for the bags there. I can't count how many sick benchers hit that bag like an old lady.  I vainly say I hit the bag way harder than guys that can out lift me by a huge margin. The difference is power.

I lift in the typical cadence that Arnold, Mentzer, Viator and all the rest. It's not fast and it's not slow. In some exercises like cleans it's all out speed.
