Full scale civil war you would have to hope that some military would take our side and not the governments.

This^

If it gets to that point in the west, the gov will have to roll over.

large scale riots would be about as bad as it got before they did...

Yes, the idea that all our American soldiers and law enforcement will slaughter their own citizens
because the government tells them to, especially when the people are fighting for their rights that the military and LE are sworn to protect, again has no idea what are people are made of.

Fortress has no dependants.

If any person or entity tries to restrict my freedom, or abolish it, I have zero hesitation to “push back”. And while, unarmed, this might not amount to much, relatively speaking, my blood will spill in equal measure to my force, and my honour will be intact.

Hail and kill.

There are more people like you than the Lefties believe. Freedom and liberty is what this country was founded on and still embedded in our DNA. Many of us will fight to the death than be a slave to the government.

My only advice is to get yourself armed. Put as much of a fight as you can against anybody or anything. I remember after the LA riots how many of my liberal friends contacted me on advice about guns. The leftist here laugh and mock those who are willing to fight back, but if they ever experience their home or business being raided, burned down, their daughters and wives raped as they, the man of the house, sit back impotent and whimpering for mercy, will have a totally different perspective on life and how the first line of protection is you and not passively waiting for someone, someone with a gun, to come rescue them.

Very concerning. This thing, when it’s over, the ripple effect will go on for who knows how long. People will remember things that you are mentioning and wondering what the hell we’ve become as a country.

Are mosques and synagogues closed as well?

My guess would be that anywhere personal distancing is requested, including synagogues, mosques and Mormon temples, etc. since no race, ethnicity or people of particular religious beliefs are magically immune to contracting COVID-19 are closed or adapting in some way.

It is interesting how some folks don't get that what is happening is happening worldwide and not just in the U.S.

I can tell you the gym business is a precarious one. High investment, low return and long hours. Ditto restaurants. How are they going to survive the shutdowns?

I normally visit a small run business owned by a husband and wife (diner). The husband informed me that they may go under if this continues to last.

Why would you be against having your personal freedom restricted if it would help save the lives of others?

There is nothing cool, honorable or admirable in being selfish.

I wouldn’t take up arms against the entire “government”, I’d take up arms against liberals and those who push the liberal ideology that causes the social shitfests in the first place. It would be fine to eradicate coronavirus and liberalism at the same time.

people can be easily made to do the wrong thing, peer pressure, not wanting to let the team down, being ridiculed for not doing whats expected even though whats expected is despicable.

History is littered with it

This is not WW2  or an alien invasion, or an extinction level event like a giant meteor strike or something like took out the Dinosaurs.

Its a bad virus that hits some people worse than others.  Even if we had a million dead - is that worst ending the country over?   To me no.

But thats where were heading for a death court not even a fraction of that.

"Freedom is not an abstract concept, We give it meaning every single day – in the way we live our lives – and in the decisions we take willingly to protect our loved ones."

The concept of liberty is a lot more nuanced than we realised

A great way for the government to get more control and practice a take over with the military.

In South Africa, I usually never see police, now they're everywhere, waiting to stop cars and ask for proof where they are going etc or else can arrest them.

For instance, I'm not allowed to take someone (who can't drive) to buy food, I have to buy it for them, keep the receipt as proof when I get stopped and interrogated at a roadblock and then deliver the food and keep the receipt for my return trip.

Also alcohol and cigarettes are now 'banned' so predictably liquor stores are getting raided and looted, anyone with even a semi functioning brain could have predicted this. Prohibition in the US led to the rise of the organised crime.

If this 'lockdown' continues, next up will be the shops.

All this seems more like an excuse for the government to take more control of the population, if they extend it again, people will start rioting. For people living week to week, how can they afford with no income to buy weeks worth of food?

I'm concerned for the folks who own two of the gyms I work out at. It's a successful family business. They have a large loyal following of folks like myself who have been members for decades. Some of them, like me, no longer pay dues in the traditional sense because our memberships are covered by our MedAvantage health insurance via Silver and Fit or Silver Sneakers, which only pay the gym when we folks actually show up. Obviously, during this time the gym isn't getting paid. I'm not sure what is happening with their regular members who pay either monthly or annually like I used to do.

I also work out at several locations all over the Portland Metro area of nationally franchised gyms.  L.A. Fitness is not collecting dues during the shutdown according to information they provided when they shut the doors almost a month ago. 24 Hour Fitness is still collecting monthly dues but plan to tack on a free month at the end of annual memberships. Like with the other gyms, these concerns are only paid when we seniors show up.

The other day, when I was craving a cheeseburger and fries, I went to Burgerville, which is a locally owned chain. If other fast food take out operations are a busy as theirs was, these places should be doing fine. However, of the three local Starbucks, only one is open for takeout and that's because it is a drive-though. Another one which is located inside the Safeway grocery store is also open, but only for take-out (walk away), since all seating has been removed. A high-end restaurant near me is open for take out. Since everything there is cooked or fixed to order, people call ahead and are given a pickup time. I haven't tried to order food from my local Chinese restaurant, but they have always had a good take out business. I imagine they are open for take out during this time.
