I've heard it's a challenging hike.
Yes, we started at 5:30 AM and I finished at 5:30 PM. The next person in the group finished at 6:30 PM, and the last of the group finished about two hours after that.
It was about 50F at the South Rim, about 100F at Phantom Ranch, and about 54F at the North Rim (approximately 9,000 feet elevation). The canyon is open from May to October 15th. If you’re serious about hiking it, make your reservations at the North Rim Lodge soon. We stayed in Tusayan at the South Rim.
It is a very difficult hike, don’t underestimate how hard it will be and the toll the heat takes on you.
But - I would highly recommend it if you’ve done your prep work.
