Believe it or not, this was when Vince McMahon was testing the WBF guys, because the feds were breathing down his neck.

Jim Quinn wasn't quite as big there as he was in 1991.

Dennis Newman, Kevin Levrone, Late Scott Wilson all had similar fantastic delt-traps tie-in
Porter Cottrell had also fantastic shoulder albeit with much smaller structure.
While too blocky Craig Titus also had strong delts.

When I first started lifting, Scott Wilson was the Delt guy:

Agree, Jim Quinn had great genetics for the entire shoulder area. He was blessed, like Levrone, with  not just huge delts, but also traps that tapered in a way to create an incredible look.

Nothing to do with being a scheme. That's just the way he does commentary. He sounded the same when he called a wrestling match, featuring Yokozuna.

Weider had nothing to do with it. He was just the beneficiary by default. If he had to test the IFBB guys the way McMahon (via Dr. Mauro Dipasquale) had to test the WBF guys, they would have looked as bad if not worse.

While very impressive and I’m a big fan of Quinn’s. I’d say Strydom for my money. Or Ruhl for absolute freak factor.

I don't remember seeing those ads until the WBF was gone. Then again, I didn't start reading MD (when Twinlab owned it) until 1993.

Twinlab ads were in other mags, but I never saw Jim Quinn in one before the WBF. Then he endorsed ICOPRO. Jim Quinn didn't get much press, compared to his national-level peers, until he actually won the North American title.
