Probably not and don't care.
I don't do pointless and dangerous exercises (like deadlifts).
Yes it's awkward af. I tried one rep years ago and just said no. Never again. Extremely unnatural. What will you gain from it anyways (realistically) that you won't from regular back squats? It certainly won't make your muscles bigger by doing them over back squats.

I don't know why you would do them too out of all people.. being a heavy giant and worrying about your lower back and all..

You deadlift more often than you ever put something on your back and squat in a normal day.  Deadlifts aren't "dangerous"   ::)

without even looking for threads regarding deadlifts fucking up spines

Age and all the fucking heavy deadlifts have fucked up Iain’s Ramy’s and Hunters back! (Going too heavy and sloppy form for years ) “ How to avoid “? Lower the fucking weight and focus on squeezing and contracting the muscle ….
My one and only back injury (L4-L5, L5-S1) came from deadlifting to absolute failure as a test subject at a college study. Dumb on my part to continue with bad form, but they had the music blasting, and they were all watching  ;D
Deadlifts are probably the #1 exercise / coupled with bad form that blows out discs and causes nerve damage (but it can be “ sloppy / heavy “ bent over rows etc ..   and everyone tried heavy powerlifting like back training , because we all watched “ Ronnie Coleman “ DVD’s VHS … that’s my take on it anyways!


Do you know how many posts there are online about people talking about deadlifts fucking up their backs/discs?

ALSO; no, I don't deadlift more often than I squat "in a normal day". I use my leg muscles when picking things up off the floor, not my spine.



The average non-lifting dumbass out there knows to avoid using their backs when picking up something moderately heavy off the floor as they can fuck up their backs by doing so, but for some reason, lifters think that doesn't apply to them and their spines are indestructible. ::)  On top of that, they try to lift as much/heavy as possible ::)

It’s apart of my high school S&C program for hip flexor strength, hip mobility, thoracic strength and mobility, external shoulder mobility and core stability strength. Plus I use it as a baseline proper squat depth and assessment
