pec/bicep tears
« on: April 26, 2006, 06:35:08 PM »
Why is it that when people tear a bicep they are able to recuperate fine and regain their strength?   Yes, there may be some noticeable difference in the muscle shape but they recuperate faster than a pec tear.   I had surgery on August 30, 2005 for a pec tear but am no where near my normal strength.  I can only bench 105 pounds on the smith machine.

Probably cos brachialis is the primary elbow flexor of the upper arm, while the primary function of biceps is supination and then assisting in elbow flexion. I remember treating a woman who tore her long head of biceps and there was very little difference in elbow flexor strength between her arms at only 3 weeks post injury.
