I also think the cables are great for him I have to pull the handle down for him to grab it but we can put light weights on it so feels safe for him with pulleys he also likes to load the platesI will say I tried to get him to do dumbell squats and he said I dont want to do those. So far he is just an upper body weight lifter other than his deadlifts but we rode our bikes to the marina so he is building up his leg strength. But no squats for him yet
