In olden times it would have been in a giant cauldron, not a crock pot with 3 bowls of soup, but they only lived to 36.

Interesting, my crock would dry the chili out after an extended time.

I'm sure Brian's crock is of higher quality than is yours.  No offense.

No question. My is probably from those olden days he’s talking about.

Side note,  whats  the vibe around the community with these Lions? I’m still in shock and now I’m dealing with 9er fans telling me to expect a blood bath….

It took me forever to get on board with the Lions after decades of disappointment.  But last year, when they started hitting their stride and finished the season by knocking Green Bay out of a playoff spot, I acknowledged that this is different.  It's real.  Pretty electric atmosphere all around.  At one point in time this year, SF looked like a sure fire bet to win the Superbowl.  I think we have a chance to beat them.  If Deebo doesn't play or is ineffective, I'd say we have a great chance.  My brother lives in the SF area.  My sister and I talked about going but decided not to.  Hopefully, it's a great game.  I think the Lions obviously still have room to get better next year.  Unfortunately, Green Bay looks like the real deal as well.  It will take some doing to win the North again next year.  It's surreal talking Lions football in late January.  LOL.

Is this cooking in the crock pot all week? What you’re saying almost doesn’t seem reasonable to being continuously cooked in a crock pot.

You’re taking old chili and adding new ingredients every day or are you making fresh chili every morning?

Waiting on the Hanky food poisoning thread.  With all his stomach issues, food poisoning might actually kill him.  Perhaps there's an Agatha Christie-like mystery novel in this.

I’m  lock step with you, watching Rodgers walk off the tundra last year in disbelief knowing they blew their chance for a playoff was one of the coolest experiences I have ever had as a lions fan. Also I think we can beat SF but that secondary has let the opponents number 1 receiver have career games for 6 weeks now. I don’t understand what Glenn is doing as a play caller and why there is never any help over the top for Sutton. I don’t actually know if he’s a good defensive coordinator.

SF has a lot of talent outside of Deebo and that’s what makes me nervous….. BUT we shut down the run and can get pressure so it is possible. Plus this team never gets shook. Going back to the Seahawks game and Goff threw the pick 6 and the whole team acted like it was nothing. These guys compete and arent afraid.

Also I hate Green Bay and the fact that they are on 30 years of elite qb play (and in SOCAL there are thousands of Green Bay fans who have never left California, let alone visited Wisconsin in December…).

Let’s go lions!

I leave it on warm overnight and I add new ingredients as they gets low or as I have leftovers from other meals. I kept it going for about 2 weeks. I am going to do a stew next time and keep it going. In olden times a tavern would keep a stew going forever and just keep adding to it. As long as you don't let it cool it is perfectly fine. I have done it a couple times now but it worked well so think it is something I will continue.

You may want to look into what lifespans were like in olden times and the influence modern sanitation/refrigeration has had.

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Perpetual_stew

Best chili I ever had in my life was when a guy I worked with, had an outside oven, and he would simmer that steak chili for a week.
Ruined me for life as far as enjoying other chili's. The heat would slowly creep up on you, a nice sweat would run down your neck, but it was easy (not hot) on the mouth.
The steak was amazing simmering that long... Fuck..

Yeah the spices really get into the flavor after cooking slowly for a long time and the meat is super soft and tender honestly it's way better after a day or 2 than on day 1.

GB fan here....but last year I actually said I had a funny feeling about the Lions.  Totally different vibe with them.  SF didn't beat GB....we lost that game.  Just like the Cowboys...I felt they were all hype.  For GB to only lose that game by 3 shows it.  In my opinion, the Lions are better suited for SF.  I will predict you have a lot of people coming out of the woodwork in the next week about how they were "always a fan".

I worked with a guy who used to be a TE with the Lions in the late 90s.  Dude has some funny ass stories about his time in the league.

They weren't even phased by the Thanksgiving game against GB.  How many 4th downs did they try and go for and not make it?  Its like they were saying "Meh, no big deal...its just one game".

Hold off on the Love talk being lumped in with 4 and 12.  We now have the monkey on our back of SF in the playoffs.  Fuck SF!!!!

EXACTLY! This lions team is different than every team from the past. It’s crazy to see how fun it is to win games. I went to the chargers game and even though they couldn’t put them away you knew they were pulling out the win. BUT they couldn’t cover Keenan Allen at all so the secondary has always been an issue. It will be a good game this weekend.

Love played lights out for 10 weeks and he finally had a bad quarter. He made the one throw you can’t…..but as a first year starter who won a playoff game you can’t be to upset. Also Farve would have made that throw but probably would have gotten a completion.

He used strip or ribeye for this? I've never heard of that. I figure if someone is slow cooking beef they'd use chuck or brisket. Learn something new every day :)

It shouldn't this moron Brian follows Sam Sulek another retard from Tik Tok. Notice, in the past two weeks Brian has miraculously discovered a crock pot and chili.

This gym shark cuck is exactly that.

Ummmm  Giants - Packers NFC championship game ring a bell?

I do think the league needs to address this bullshit of the play clock.  That McCaffrey run should NOT have been allowed.
