Long explanation but a couple of highlights. Part of it is definitely a reaction to Trump, I just cannot stand him. But basically I am more Democrat than Republican on a lot of issues (economic fairness, robust rather than isolationist foreign policy, environmental, pro-choice and liberal on social issues. But I am way more Republican in two areas that relate to the rule of law: 1) immigration 2) support for law enforcement and a belief that consequences matter.

That's fair.  I think most people in this country are not fully represented by either party.

My biggest concern for Harris is that I think she will be viewed as weak in the world, and I think that will lead to consequences globally.  The ultimate fear being the draft gets reinstated due to escalation in Ukraine in the Middle East, and my/our kids are led to war by a complete idiot.

In addition, she's part of one of the biggest coverup and lies to the American public, covering up Biden's real condition until it became legitimately impossible to do so.  Then, to make it worse, Democracy was again bypassed by her anointment - she's the candidate NOBODY voted for.

She literally has no record to run on.

This comes from someone who is not a big Trump guy, but doesn't get all bent out of shape by his BS.  I legit think the first thing he will do is broker a settlement with Ukraine and Russia. I don't care if it's purely ego driven, but he will do it.

Then he'll close the border for sure, which is absolutely necessary.

Not really concerned about much else right now.

We'd be in better shape than we are now with Biden/Harris.

I do not buy the cover up theory at all and it won’t play in Peoria with the American people either. A lot of us hung in with Biden (me included) longer than we should have and I am sure he had his up and down moments. Most of us probably forgive her for her loyalty.

On your other point, I think your argument has some merit. I do not go for the new “America Only”,“screw our allies lets them pay for their own defense” isolationism in the Republican Party (Vance is the poster child for that). But I do think you can make an argument that Trump, being tough and unpredictable, freezes bad guys in place and maybe that makes him a good thing for world peace. But that is a big maybe for me.

There's an incredible story told by a congressman how Trump was talking to the Taliban Leaders about a potential withdrawal.  The guy said Trump told the interpreter (paraphrase) "tell him I want to get out of Afghanistan, but if one hair on any American head is harmed, I will wipe the taliban off the earth" The interpreter looked at him like "you really want me do to this"?  Trump said "tell him and give him this" and walked out of the room.  It was a photo of the guy's home.

I think he's super tough when he knows we can easily win with not much escalation.  I think he's more careful with Putin, Xi, etc.

As for the first part I cannot just wipe that away to loyalty.  There are degrees that.  The media, and the Biden administation, not only denied, but vilified anyone for YEARS who questioned Biden's mental acuity, even though we watched it happen all the time.  And the only reason they gave in was because the debate made it impossible to ignore.  Harris knew, and was complicit.  It will harm her.

Did Trump say he would pardon the J6 people? I just saw a headline in passing that he did. Or was he more vague about what he would do? If he did say that, to me, this is something that would show his character and loyalty, because my impression is that he could do that and there is no legal obstacle. I've seen many ask why he didn't pardon them preemptively when he was still in office. This was something to me that left a bad taste, how he didn't stick up for his followers, the "little people."

Trump left office 14 days after J6. Few if any had been prosecuted then nor was it clear the extent to which any such would occur. If prior riot behavior in DC or across the country was compared, there would not have been many prosecuted. I don’t think Trump has committed to a blanket pardon for all even though that may end up as the most efficient action.

https://www.nbcnews.com/politics/justice-department/donald-trump-says-absolutely-pardon-jan-6-rioters-rcna164565 .

WASHINGTON — Former President Donald Trump said once again Wednesday that he would pardon Jan. 6 rioters if he wins the election, repeatedly lying about what happened during the violent attack on the U.S. Capitol, which injured more than 140 police officers.

"Oh, absolutely, I would. If they're innocent, I would pardon them," Trump said during a panel at the National Association of Black Journalists. "They were convicted by a very tough system."

"Trump has referred to Jan. 6 rioters as warriors, "unbelievable patriots," political prisoners and "hostages." "

" When Scott asked Trump directly whether he would pardon Jan. 6 rioters who were seen on video assaulting officers with flagpoles and dragging officers down the stairs of the Capitol, Trump didn't answer and instead pivoted to talking about the officer who shot and killed a Jan. 6 rioter. "

Yes, that's how I read it too. There's about 900 convicted J6 people. Tactically, I figure he pardons the all the non-violent or marginal ones, captured or wanted. Any that were actually violent get put under review, and stay there indefinitely. Trump supporters see it as a win, while Trump can claim to the police unions, etc.... that he didn't pardon anyone violent.

i don't think they were officially charged until he was out of office, so he couldn't pardon them

also Hilary was much more popular than useless kamala, if she couldn't beat Trump i don't see her doing it either

they'll have to get more black poll workers like they did in 2020 to throw away Trump votes

How will Kammy picking Josh Shapiro affect things?  All Trump needs is one of Wisconsin, Michigan or PA.  I think Michigan will be lost to Kamala due to the Arab population.

Remains to be seen how the anti-semitism of the Left plays out in other democrat demographics.

Not if Kammy picks off AZ, GA or NC.

It's the classic noncommital politician answer.

I think your prediction sounds like what could happen. But it would be infuriating if he puts it off or if in the end he does practically nothing. He did rile up the crowd, but did so in a way where he could claim he never told them to break in or be violent. He also told the crowd that he would walk down Pennsylvania avenue with them. Instead he retreated and watched it unfold on TV while drinking cokes.

I don't know if true but some said the guards for the protesters are all black just to hopefully add a cruelty angle towards the prisoners.

They said Trump was Putin-friendly but Trump has signaled he is going to be tough on Russia and won't accept the deal Russia presented. So how is he going to solve the Ukraine issue in a day?
