Schwarzenegger standing during ski accident: report

LOS ANGELES - Arnold Schwarzenegger's leg-breaking ski accident proves he is hardly as indestructible as the 'Terminator' he played in the movies, and an eyewitness account of the mishap suggests he's less coordinated, too.

A ski instructor who said he was with the California governor when he fractured his thigh bone last weekend told the Los Angeles Times that Schwarzenegger was standing still just before he fell, not racing down the slopes as might be imagined.

The instructor, Adi Erber, said that as Schwarzenegger, 59, prepared to descend the final stretch of a ski run last Saturday, his ski pole got caught in one of his skis, causing him to trip and fall in what Erber described as a 'freak accident.'

According to Erber's account in the Times on Wednesday, the Austrian-born former bodybuilder and Hollywood action star was in pain and had to be taken down the hill by a rescue team on a toboggan.

The newspaper also quoted an unnamed friend of the governor who spoke to Schwarzenegger after the accident as saying Schwarzenegger was 'aggravated' by what happened and described the accident as a 'slow fall' on an icy surface.

Erber or others at the ski school at the Sun Valley ski resort in Idaho could not immediately be reached for comment. And the governor's office declined repeated requests to disclose details of the accident, saying only that he had broken his leg while skiing with family on vacation

Nice well thought out and written article on why Ronnie is better than Dorian. Very concise. :-X

He never offered any thing that resembles a coherent explanation why he thinks Ronnie would beat Dorian , the best he offered was " Yates was handpicked by the Weiders because he was white " at the least Hulkster tries to explain his point no matter how wrong it is.

i like how pumpster makes page references to prove certian points he's made or things he's backed up - like his 'political reasons why yates won' or clips he posted.

of course, they arent there or any where near the page he said.

pumpster's word is as strong as the strongest resistance rod on his bowflex.

Icecold's hilarious pumpster attraction will continue well into 2007, now that Yates has been beaten to a pulp & humiliated, which these losers take very personally. ROFL

The amount of esiclene mediated swelling Kevin has in this shot is just retarded. Come on, look at his triceps, they simply do not look normal.

in 93, yates is not called out in the muscularity round, bc it is so apparent how dominant he is and flex calls dorian untouchable.

in 99, ronnie is called out numerous times in the musuclarity round.  not only does flex not say ronnie is untouchable, but turns his back to the judges displeased with the result and says in print that he should have won.

hulkster, pumpster, etc. are you a more qualified source than flex wheeler, hulkster's 2nd all time fav bodybuilder?

how did you trap anyone? You're problem is that you rely too heavily on quotes rather than visual evidence. It's too easy for someone biased to say "Dorian was better," yet you act like they speak the gospel. If I had never seen the pics and videos, I might actually believe them. Flex was clearly out of his mind if he thinks he should have won the 99 Mr. Olympia. Not only did the judges award Ronnie straight firsts, but Flex used synthol.

as I have stated many times, the fact that dorian was not called out during the muscularity round is not dominance.

that is called PARTIAL JUDGING which is BAD.

should NEVER have happened.

What kind of judge would award first place to a competitor in a round without having compared the first place winner to any of the other competitiors?

give me a break!

If that is not evidence for politics, I don't know what is... ::)

you are missing the point though.

yes, you have posted many pics.

but the problem is whenever someone attempts to EXPLAIN RATIONALLY with pics why Ronnie is better or has an advantage etc instead of retorting with a similar effort, you post quotes instead.

that is the crucial difference.

when faced with hard core evidence and rational explanation, you rely on quotes.

you tend to post pics when it doesn't really matter much..

Nonsense I've countered all your claims with a lengthly explanations and pictures and videos , and what is rational? that Dorian is the most overrated bodybuilder of all time? his conditioning is a myth? Shawn Ray beats Dorian in the back double biceps shot? all garbage ! I counter with facts and criteria that you can't match.

I still can't believe that ANYONE who claims that the judges were so fair and accurate (as ND has always done through out this thread with his insistance on referring to scorecards) would not have a problem with the judges not even BOTHERING to call out the eventual winner in the muscularity round with a scorecard in their hands.

its unbelievable and unheard of that the judges could be so partial and have such a preconcieved notion of a physique.

why did they even bother to watch the contest then? ::)

that is "fair" judging at its absolute WORST.

See hulkster is basing his entire opinion of a few scans and compressed video , your opinion is biased garbage and very ignorant especially the ' proof ' you have to work with , Dorian was so far and ahead of everyone in 1993 it wasn't funny , how do I know? bases on pictures , videos , facts , figures , firsthand accounts and the criteria , I based my opinion on ALL of these not one of these .

oh, here we go with the "media ruins dorian" bullshit.. ::)

how come everyone else looks good in the same "few scans and compressed video"?

if a "few scans" and "compressed video" really made people look bad all the time, we would not have shots like this:

face it ND: the media used is not what makes dorian's arms and quads look smooth.

its the physique itself.

Yawn I've heard this tired tirade before , how many people have said Dorian must be seen in person? now many people ? and again Dorian's skin is fair the details are hard to catch in photos or on video , to base an opinion on a few moments of video thats is NOT the best presentation of reality is ignorant and just stupid .

See the difference between some photos from the same contest?  ;)

I found this article:

"With all due respect to one of my favorite bodybuilders, Dorian Yates, Ronnie's back development is the best in the history of bodybuilding, past, present, and in the foreseeable future."

Does anyone know who wrote this article. I believe that site is connected to http://www.mesomorphosis.com/store/

I guess someone from there wrote the article. If anyone can find out, go ahead.

let me get this straight:

you are telling us that we are stupid for basing the opinion that dorian had smooth arms and quads on a few scans or moments of video...

yet its okay for you to say that dorian would win based on a few scans or videos of Ronnie where he looks detailed and vascular and shapely as hell? ::)

makes no sense at all.

If dorian was that much better up close, Ronnie would be that much better also.

and thus, would still win..

Poor logic ! how many times have you seen that quote attributed to Ronnie? that he must be seen in person because pictures & video don't do him justice?  ;) enough with the vascular thats so weak lol and his quad's aren't smooth thats bullshit and you know it and either are his arms , smooth implies he's holding water Yates doesn't hold water thats a job for Ronnie the water-boy.
