Trained today
Only managed  a max of 10, still sore from Friday

Did some partial muscle ups instead  using leg momentum getting my upper abs to the bar

Did 6 or so sets of dips then managed another strict set of 8 pull ups when I had finished my session.

Exceed your goals Jeff, don`t falter.....the limiting factor is your mind ....up to a point of course.

Going to start adding weight this week 10k plate, apparently its the best way to boost overall totals rather than just trying to add reps

Patience Yago, patience.

It will take you awhile, perhaps years.

If you increase 1 pullup every 2-4 weeks you'll still get there if you just keep plodding.

In the meantime you will build a helluva back.

I have gone from 3 to 14 in less than 3 months, I also hurt my front delt a bit a couple weeks ago, still not 100%, not sure if it was the assisted pull up machine or dips
I can rattle out about 20 dips but Im not comfortable adding weight just yet

It takes time for the connective tissues to toughen.

this cannot b overstated.. and is perhaps the single most important element of long term functionality.

pain is good, but u gotta have the intelligence to know when its time to take your foot off the gas

the body can b conditioned to incredible levels.. even at an advanced age - if done smartly - slow and sure.

again, think years

Great progress Josh  8)

*Ive found the McGill Pull Up method is an excellent way for anyone to progress in Chins/Pull ups, using one of those door pull up bar contraptions at home.

Once or twice a week

eg 4 week progression.

Week 1) 6-8 rep set ( 30 sec rest inbetween each rep )
Week 2)  8-10 rep set (30 sec rest inbetween each rep)
Week 3) 10-15 rep set (30 sec rest inbetween each rep)
Week 4)  Test - AMRAP

I read do not cross legs, it creates an imbalance in your core ans you relax one leg on the other

I’ve always done them straight legged. Just feels right. Cross legs seemed weird to me.

I used to pick a goal number, lets`s hypothetically say 30 reps, and just keep doing as many reps per set until the totaled 30 or whatever number it was that I chose regardless of the total number of sets.
