He didn’t modify my original post, dingus.

He just quoted it and changed a word around but the original still remains the same.

Be careful Shizzo, or I’ll start to have your posts deleted.

Each muscle does a specific job. Don't over complicate it, focus on consistently overloading the muscle with tiny bumps in weight or by getting an extra rep vs the week before.

You seem a bit confused yourself.

I worked chest today. Did 15 exercises. 1 exercise at 15 different gyms. Talk about muscle confusion!

Coach, do you agree with Vince Basiles theory of hypertrophy?

But there is such a thing as adaptation.

for something to be confused it would have to be self aware and conscious.

Muscles are neither.

What do you do when you can no longer make strength gains? No one continuously gets stronger.

Take a week or two off recover then start again

You still won't get any stronger. This "infinite gains" belief is why all HIT practitioners burnout and quit.

No you will reach your ceiling but a rest can bring new gains because the mind needs it too.  you are overtrained !  ;D

According to CHATGPT:

Muscle confusion" is kind of a catchy term, but the reality behind it is more nuanced.
The idea:

Muscle confusion is based on the notion that if you constantly vary your workouts—changing exercises, sets, reps, and intensity—you can prevent plateaus and keep your muscles "guessing," supposedly leading to continuous gains.
What science actually says:

Progressive overload is key – Muscles grow primarily in response to progressive overload, which means gradually increasing the demand placed on them (e.g., lifting heavier, doing more reps, improving form).

Variation can help – Changing your routine strategically every 6–8 weeks (not constantly) can help break plateaus and reduce boredom, which is beneficial mentally and physically.

Too much variety can backfire – If you're always doing different exercises, you might not give your body enough time to adapt and improve. Consistency helps you measure progress and refine technique.

Adaptation is not the enemy – Some adaptation is exactly what you want—that’s how strength and muscle are built. You only need to "confuse" the muscle when gains stall.

Bottom line:

Muscle confusion as a gimmick is mostly hype. But planned variety within a structured program can absolutely support long-term progress. If you're training consistently, gradually increasing difficulty, and throwing in changes when needed, you're doing it right.

Curious—what kind of training are you doing now?

You`re right.......we can`t continue getting stronger forever or everyone would be benching 1000 pounds for reps, but we can still make progress outside of strength gains.... meaning that we can get leaner, attempt to bring up lagging body parts, eat better/cleaner/healthier,improve cardio, etc. etc. all of which would improve your physique, and maybe even power.....it depends.

You can get small strength gains for a long time but it's more like you learn to wiggle your body this or that way to get a rep. I've seen natural powerlifters bang their heads against the wall for 2-3 years on some lift and then suddenly they jump 10lbs on it. Can be relevant for a competitor, otherwise maybe not, unless you just enjoy it.

I went back to my gym and worked back yesterday. I’m very sore today. Yet, I used the same machines that I’ve been using for the last couple years. The difference was that I used resistant bands on all my back movements. In other words, I attached resistant bands to all the machine and freeweights movements that I did.

I have unlocked the secret of muscle growth. Use different machines and then add in resistant bands.

You’re welcome.
