Better that any here but is it anything for future?
That is a good time for a high school athlete, but going by memory, I would not say that time would make someone “advanced” enough for national events. I did not go to high school in the U.S., so I don’t have a historical background to give me perspective. Admittedly the 800 meter is not in my wheelhouse.
Trying to extrapolate high school accomplishments into the future is difficult. Everyone matures at different times / ages and in most instances the athletes are relatively new to their events. I would say that as long as the person is having fun, tell them to stick with it and try to find a sense of accomplishment from something other than winning.
