
Nah, I understand where he is coming from.
I think it's likely he's a bit addicted and is sort of balancing that with not overspending at any given time (let's not debate whether it is, I wouldn't spend it but we'll ignore that)
But, there is definitely diminishing returns with watches, just like any other product. I have maybe something like 20 pairs of headphones in this house but no pair is worth more than $2k AU. Same with guitars, I have a lot of them too but nothing over $2.5k AU. There comes a point where any further expense is questionable. It's just something that might look better (and I stress might). For headphones, it might sound a few percent better as you go up. For a guitar, it'll almost universally just be look and feel.
