I think the pros that endorse a supplement should be off all drugs including HRT for a year.  It would be interesting to see how they look in the supplement ad.  The fact is that insecure young men are spending their hard earned money buying snake oil.  The real supplement of the guys in the ads are drugs.

The real fact is that if steroids, GH, LH, insulin, thyroid, anti estrogen and all the rest of the junk were legal all bodybuilding supplements ads would go away.  The ads would be pictures of bodybuilding pros holding a vial and a syringe.  I can see the ad now.  Our brand of testosterone is proven to be 84% more effective in clinical trials conducted in Bulgaria University than the leading brand.

There is still a stigma regarding using drugs to build muscle.  Legality wouldn't change that mindset.

You're kidding right?  LMAO!  Wow!  The only supplement actually proven to be worth the money is creatine. And I can get all the creatine I need from red meat.  Everything else is bullshit and a waste of money.  You ask why the hell supplement companies would spend millions on R&D if they weren't worth it?  LOL Come on Chick.  Someone that is always glorifying how the "real world works" should know better.  They don't spend millions of dollars on research and development.  They spend millions of dollars on marketing and advertising.  I guess all those doctors in the ads and on t.v. are actually doctors too huh?

The only thing that has really changed in the last 50 years when it comes to bodybuilding is the drugs.  Guys were getting big and strong way before supplements.  The only reason guys are the size they are today is because of drugs plain and simple.  The supplement scam is the same bullshit that has gone on since Weider and Hoffman.  There was a bodybuilder at one time that opened the door to the Weider Research Clinic and you know what it was?  A fucking closet!  Haha.  Rumor or not it's a great description of how shady supplement companies are.  I'll agree with you Chic that all you need is real food, discipline, and good training to build muscle.  But your development at 17 is hardly attainable by anyone without drugs.  And the fact that you think most average trainees can get by with training 6 days a week religiously shows you have no knowledge of what works and what does as far as bodybuilding goes.  If you are in fact natural you've were allowed to skate by thanks to your genetics.  If I put the average kid on a training routine of 6 days a week he'd do one of two things:
1) Give up and quit due to overtraining
2) Turn to steroids due to overtraining

Arnold would NEVER have gotten away with his training when he was younger without the drugs.  Spending 3-4 hours a day 7 days a week doing 15 sets for chest?  LMAO!  Come on Chick!  Not everyone on this board is so gullible.

First of all, not everyone wants to look like a world class bodybuilder, nor do they have aspirations of competition...the developement I showed at 17 can be achieved by training consistantly and minimum attention to diet...of course genetics help....but the fact is, I was just more driven than anyone else I knew...most of my friends would train for a little while, get a GF and we would never see them in the gym again...

You have no clue as to what the supp companies spend their money on....I do.

Ah c'mon man it's the same old bullshit.

Don't put too much stock in any conversation you are having with a pro bodybuilder, just assume whatever he is telling you is complete lies and you will be just fine.

McMannus....I agree with you on some points, but as a marketing consultant I have worked with some of the larger supplement companies, and they spend a ton of cash on RD.  The larger companies have staffed labs and they put a lot of time and effort into their products.  There is a lot of bullshit....but take it from me, the major players are focused on science.

The largest supplement companies spend peanuts in marketing dollars compared to major companies....peanuts.

"Science".  ::)

The typical supp "company" consists of finding out whatever substance is "hot" in the bb community right now, buying several kilos of it in raw powder form from China, hiring day laborers at minimum wage to stuff it into capsules, getting some fancy bottle labels printed up, and starting a website.  I could run one of these operations out of my garage.

Ron pays very well for forum posts.  He's very generous with his Jew Gold. Of course with the economy being what it is, he may have to downsize at some point.  I'm thinking he axes that slacker Quaker Oats before me though...  fucker hasn't been into the office in days.  >:(

She used to keep them in there, but then we bought a third vehicle so they no longer fit.   I had them shipped to Chaos in Cali...  I figure he might take them up to South Central and do some "urban renewal".

Ummmmm....."Oldtimer", steroids were legal during Arnold's heyday. Yet, there were plenty of bodybuilding supplement ads badk then (many of them, featureing Schwarzenegger himself).

Exactly right....there are plenty of drugs out there that are legal, doesn't mean people automatically want to partake... like alcohol, tobacco...if they made pot legal tomorrow, I'm still not interested in smoking it.

Correct

Aas being illlegal is not the real deterrent to people, its the bad media rep they get, and the "cheat" stigma attached.

Differing views is 1 thing, but to get slanderous with the one established pro that still posts here regularly, and actually contributes to the board, is fucked up.
