Title: [RIP] In loving memory of Reeves. Gone but not forgotten.
Post by: Phantom Spunker on September 29, 2024, 08:06:08 AM
Friends,

After reading recent threads discussing the impact that Squadfather made here, it got me thinking about other members who have crossed the bar, and I realized that we never really paid enough respect to Reeves. He was such a great poster—my favorite, actually—and it would feel like a failing on my part if I did not attempt to keep his memory alive by introducing him to younger members and inviting those who knew him to share some touching and amusing anecdotes.

As many of you will remember, Reeves was a literal midget who stood at under 5 feet tall. He was also mixed race, or, as he hilariously quipped 'Halfrican American.' Despite these brutal setbacks, he was never one to back down from an argument, as these much-loved quotes show:

Yup.  And lest any here forget, I am immune to liberal taunts of "racist!" and the like because like the current presidente' of these United States, I am a Hafrican-

American, a HalFro, a mulatto.  To be specific, I am the Magic Mulatto©™.  And I approve your message because it be da troof and de troof will set yo' free.

Speaking of da troof.  This British negroe should call himself tiny penis, Britian's biggest dick.

Think about it.   ;D Both are more than likely true and,  if the troof fits, then he should wear it on a t-shirt.  FTN.

My mother was more what they used to refer to as "high yellow" and dad was white.  I'm kinda in between...  Miss them both.

I'm now just under five feet.

I cannot help but wonder what it is really like to be a normal sized man, much less so what men like chaos, Groink and Bam Bam are.
I will never know and that is beginning to sadden me more than I ever thought, even in my childhood.

I envy you three.  Enjoy life, gentlemen.

"Oh for fuck's sake..."  I'm barely five feet tall, big boy.   ;D  The inference is that I tower over you mentally and by the looks of your rebuttal... I do.  ;)

Oh, and thanks for the comparison to Pygmalion.  As you undoubtedly know.   ;D*SNICKER* ;D  his story has been retold in a variety of forms.  I highly recommend the film "My Fair Lady".  It has an excellent score and the presentation is at once modern and period.

I understand you, but then I am me and you are you.  Have we achieved clarity on this subject, sir?   ;D

Thank you.  And yes, it does suck being this "tall", but I've dealt with it since I was a child.  My parents were quite short and apparently I inherited it from them.  ;D

The wit, the way with words...Those were developed in school as well as on the playground due to being made fun of.   ;)  I have a sense of humor about myself and it has served me well all these years.  All the best to you, young man.

A very nice physique.  You look quite tall too, but then I'm barely five feet myself.  I'm no fan of drugs, but your physique looks to be built on hard work as well.  I think that your standing straight in poses adds to your "look" in an very positive way.  Too many bodybuilders squat down to "emphasize" their overbuilt hamstrings and fat asses and "hide" their huge guts, but you seem quite proportionate and as I said, you look taller than most people on the dais.

Good luck.

What I personally loved about him were his hysterical and entirely unique rants about Christianity and Islam:

Ummmmm..."Filthy atheists taking sides with muslims (sic)"...

First off youngster, it's spelled "MUSLIMES".  Secondly and with regard to the "filthy atheists" part -

Surely you jest?  Doth my eyes deceive me or hast thou so poorly attempted to lump me in with the filthy side of the atheist equation?  Me?  Side with muslimes (spell it right, kid)?  Again, but with more feeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeli ng...

Surely you jest?

Fuck the noise of islime and their pederast for profit homohammed, porkbellies be unto him.  I am quite possibly the last person on these forums you would desire to cross wits with, let alone words.  I shall allow you to explainitize yo' sef before I linguistically castrate you.

"Filthy atheists taking sides with muslims (sic)"... FFS.  What do you take me for, a democrapic liberal?   I await your thunderous reply with bated breath. ;D

Women?  I would help a woman and have done so although it was just a matter of answering some questions about getting a taxi and other related things in a very public place.  The odd thing about that instance is that the two women appeared very worried while talking to me.  I later found out that these two women could have gotten in a lot of "trouble" just for talking to another man, let alone an "infidel".

Were it known that I am an atheist, it would have been worse.  muslimes really don't care for atheists.  muslime males can marry muslime babes or babes of the People of the Book, i.e., Christian or Jewish women.  muslime women on the other hand can only marry muslime men.  Fuck that noise.

As for the store owner, any store owner really, they can refuse service to whomever the want to refuse service to.  And in a similar fashion, customers can refuse to shop there.     islime is a misogynistic "faith".  Men are forbidden to have sex with a woman until they are married but they will fag off with other men and worse still fuck boys in the ass.  This is a big reason that the pederast known as "Lawrence of Arabia" supercalifragelisticabso fuckinglutely loved to live in the litter box.

He was a homo pedophile and in the world of islime...No problem.

If you want to know what I really think then listen carefully, champ.   islime needs to clean its own house instead of slithering around trying to blow up someone else's. But nooooooooooooooo...islim e means "submit".  Treat your women as women and equals instead of property.  I've seen how these silicon schwartz's (i.e., "negroes of the sand") treat their women and I think that castration is the way to go.  Can't rape or reproduce when you've only got the bat but someone took the balls and went home.  FTN.  Cut it all off.  Fuckers deserve to go through life without their weenies.

You want to be liked?  Be likeable.  Lose the queeron and behave (not act/pretend) like a human.

Fuck that noise.

Oh, and if this were a man it happened to.  Fuck him.  Fuck islime.

In later years, Reeves had a number of health issues, but he never let this affect his great sense of humor. Indeed, it was his wit and his intelligence that made him so popular, especially with The Scott. The Scott was truly blessed to know Reeves in real life, and the two were very close friends. The Scott, being the modest man that he is, will often downplay his own intelligence, but when it comes to Reeves, he's not afraid to stand up and admit that the man was a genius who 'could have easily qualified for MENSA.' In fairness, Reeves himself was no shrinking violet when it came to admitting his intellectual superiority over others:

Drop the "judge" and there it is for all to see. You are being  "mental".

I know.  Its not really fair of me to be so smucking fart.  But I don't have much choice as I am dinky and a Halfrican-Amurican.   ;D Later, kid.  "Reeves that noise"...Cute.  ;D

You may be twice my size physically (shit, who here isn't? ;D), but mentally you are nowhere near my intelligence.  Do not go there, kid.  You are in over your head in even the shallow end of the kiddie version of the gene pool.

And if you are indeed Gary Strydom, I can assure you that you do not want to go there.  I am no match for you in either the gym or on the dais, just as you are no match for me on a mental scale.  Either in the real world or here in the Matrix of Getbig.  Or as you might put it if you had the brain power to back it...

"Reeves...Yea I'm that smart".

By 2011, and at 60 years of age, poor health was beginning to get the better of Reeves, and he sadly would not have long left:

Being a wee, little person of no size and with kidney problems that are in fact, congenital and quite often associated with being a wee, little person of no size I can attest to the fact that ibuprofen is off limits because of its effect on the kidneys.

That said, these ignorant bodydopers suffer from congenital stupidity, huge egos and a gross inability to control said ego.  They do this to themselves and upon their becoming very ill due to AAS and other drugs such as ibuprofen, they try to hide their stupidity and guilt by claiming some rare kidney problem or the like.  When the die, their family may even continue the ruse of congenital renal problems.

Fuck 'em.

Suffice to say, now over sixty.  How much longer, that is up to the doctors.  I have a sense of humor about it all.  One has to.

Little is known about his passing, but we can only hope he went in peace, and without much suffering. By incredible coincidence, his good friend The Scott joined the board shortly after, though, and it is through him that I hope we can now keep Reeves's memory alive.

What I love the most about their friendship is that they were strikingly different not just in intellect but in physical size. The Scott, after all, is a former bouncer who once stood at  6' 1.5" tall and weighed 250lbs, and used to regularly throw people through walls. Reeves, of course, was a dwarf who needed crutches to get around. It's hard to imagine them both training in the gym together when The Scott was one of the strongest squatters of all time in his heyday:

Nice!

I've done 225lbs. for 100 reps and 300lbs. (it might've been 315lbs. but I am almost certain it was 300!) for 50 reps.   My last day in a gym I trained at I did 515 for 20, 535 for 20, 585 for 5 and then back down to 515 for 20.  I changed gyms and they didn't always have enough weight so I just did more reps.  Leg extensions were done with up to 750lbs.  Two coaches estimated my max squat to be at least 700lbs. but to be honest I never tried as I preferred lighter weights for high reps so that I wouldn't be injured.

I do not have knee problems from squatting.  I am a handicapable person from a few work related incidents as well as ones that occurred in the course of my normal life.   I am not on "disability" as I was raised to do my best to avoid that.   I am quite possibly the world's worst bench presser as at a body weight of 250lbs. I could only do a single of 350lbs.

I really miss being kinda strong.  Age and injuries or as my older friends used to call it, "life" as taken me down a few notches.  I really enjoy reading stuff that all here have done (except bhanky) as it brings back memories and I very much admire those that train hard to be the strongest they can be.

That's enough rambling from me as I'm getting teary-eyed thinking about Reeves and his beautiful friendship with The Scott. I'd like to now invite you all to share your memories of this wonderful poster.

Hmm, what kind of character do we have here? Anyone care to analyse this fella? Quite interesting actually  :D

The blasphemy!!! I miss my little yard jockey.

;D  He really thought that was the coolest thing he had ever been called and considered you The Man for it!  ;D

John was a dear friend and introduced me to a lot of wonderful people.  He and my late mother are responsible for my (such as it is) writing ability.

Thanks, Hulkotron. He was the best.

Thanks for chiming in, Scott, and it's really beautiful to hear he dedicated so much time to your cultural and literary edification. Could you tell us more regarding how that all came to be?

If it's not too painful, could you also tell us about the end of his life and how that event unfolded? Our mutual friend Chaos is here, and he was also very fond of John, so I'm sure it wasn't easy for him to find out that the man he conversed with regularly just suddenly died.

Do you have any photos you could share of Reeves? Perhaps the two of you together? The difference in size between you both must have been quite something!

For a minute I thought I was reading the Scott's posts.

Tight buddies are like that. I used to have a good friend.  Though we were roughly the same height and weight we looked nothing alike, facially. Yet, because we spoke alike, used many of the same phrases, same body language,  same sense of humor, that people swore we were brothers some people went so far as to call us twins.

Yes, John along with my mom, taught me how to write.  My phraseology comes primarily from him but my mother always had some of the best "sayings" to teach me (and others).

"Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery that mediocrity can pay to greatness. - Oscar Wilde"

My wording is my way of thanking mom and John.

"Lawn Jockey"!!

I woke up this morning and that popped into my empty head and I think that's the wording you used!

Lol!!! 'Lawn Jockey.' That is brilliant; thanks for sharing. I guess the fact that you can still remember the exact wording of it from a time when you weren't even on here, is testament to how close you both were, and how hilarious he must have found it in order to share that with you in real life.

If it's not too probing, may I ask what was he like as a training partner? Did you ever put him on your 3-gallons-of-milk-and-whipping-cream natural powerlifter diet to see if he could also rep out 585lbs on the squat? Tiny legs are great for weightlifting, so he was probably very strong, right?

I must confess, the paltry turnout for Reeves's memorial service has truly saddened me. This great man deserved better, and I thought we would all enjoy sharing some happy memories and listening to some tales from those who knew him best.

If no one else wants to speak, then I guess I'll end this by saying that even though Reeves was a heavily disabled swarthy midget, he towered over us all intellectually, and in the field of moral philosophy, it is no exaggeration to say that he was a giant.

It was he who taught me the importance of telling the truth —no matter what. No matter how much it hurts. Because telling the truth is a duty that we owe to ourselves and others, and when we engage in deception we only diminish our own integrity and damage the relationships we have with those around us.

I will carry these teachings with me until I see him again outside the gates of heaven. RIP, Reeves, you gammy little fucker.

This thread is now closed

That’s all I've got to say. Frankly, I'm depressed and ashamed.
