It's been 2 days now, is Lee suspended or not.
-
Well he would be if he competed in a bodybuilding show, not sure if Saturday night in New York counts... :-[ :-[ :-[
-
Any news of suspension yet.
-
Chick knows the deal IFBB suspend BBs who compete in any other organization.Fact.
-
When will the IFBB annouce Lee's suspension. What are they consulting their lawyers first???
-
Yeah when do i get my letter or phone call? please do tell people would like to know.
-
Beats me, people...not my department.
-
Beats me, people...not my department.
Well you have the inside scoop and wwas so sure i would be.So who better to know.
-
Is it your department when the reigning Mr. Olympia makes a fool out the IFBB athletes rep on live radio?
Ronnie also says he made a fool out of "that pushy Solomon guy who wouldn't get out of my face about losing the challenge round last year!" ;D
-
You were sure you knew everything that would pertain to this event happening prior to it,s happening , so whats changed chic ??
-
Here's something that I am curious about and I'm not trying to stir the pot. Does the IFBB have a rule regarding the procedure as to how and when anyone gets suspended? I mean what if Lee doesn't hear anything and wants to keep in shape? Can he assume that it is OK to enter the Olympia if he hasn't officially heard anything? Just wondering.
-

Well, If I were guessing...I would say it's not a matter of if, but when.
I'll say...somewhere in the next 2 weeks... ;D

The IFBB can make a ruling and fine/ suspend up to the day of the event...there is no time line that must be followed.
It's up to Lee, as to assume one way or another if he's in or out...
-
I don't think they thought that:
A - the NOC would actually go on, and
B - that Lee would actually do it.
Now they are having a tough time deciding to take one of it's most popular guys off the market.

Hey that's fine the Lawyer has all the time in the world to wait.No big deal.
-
Dont suppose you could actualy post the ruleing/rule/ guideline that would have lee suspended could you bob !!

If the IFBB had any decency they would let Lee know asap rather than drag it out till the 11th hour.
That way, if Lee wanted to appeal the decision a'la restraint of trade, he could then have the matter heard in the appropriate jurisdiction. ;)
-
Hey wait till the last hour can't do O makes the case in court so much better when it comes to lost earnings and so on.
-
Who needs Days when we have Getbig. ;D
-
Hey wait till the last hour can't do O makes the case in court so much better when it comes to lost earnings and so on.
Damn, you beat me to it. I was about to bring that up.
-
I find Chick's rather smug attitude regarding this rather disgusting. Even while suspended Lee would be an IFBB athlete. I think IFBB athletes need individual representatives/agents instead of one because this one obviously is experiencing a conflict of interest for some reason.
-
LOL! Lee has thrown the gauntlet down, and Manion can't figure out whether or not to pick it up because he isn't quite sure if it's gonna blow up in his face or not. ;D
-
LEE MUCUTCHIN ( Or how eva the F@#k you spell it) could do the Olympia ?? :D
P/S no disrespect on the name bro , just cant spell for shit thats all !! you know me !!
-

Oh it will...... i am just waiting to light the fuse.
-

Well..that wouldn't do you much good, as it's a competition, and there is no guarantee (m eaning, you couldn't prove in a court of law) that you would place in the money.
Other than that...I assume you can sell all the merchandise you like, etc......make a bundle, brother!
-

Munchkin. ;D

it would be a strange feeling i bet at the expo where Lee will be signing auto's and all his fans telling him that it Bullshit what the IFBB is doing to him....whether its right or not, the fans don't really give a shit...I do wonder if the same set of rules would have appied if Ronnie or Jay did the PDI show...Its not like rules are set in stone, Cutler proved that by simply stating he had a lawyer and was gonna fight it....Maybe Lee learned something from Cutler
-
We suppose to be talking about all the great things that are going to happen at the o. How about is Ronnie gonna win it all or something like that. All I hear is , is Lee going to be suspended. Nobody gives a shit about that dude. The show will go on without him. You can go to all the other boards and they wont be talking about this.Nobody cares but the clowns on getbig

IFBB Professional Rules
1.7 Non-sanctioned Competitions or Events:
Any Member, whether Athlete, Judge or Official, who participates in a competition or event not approved or sanctioned by the Pro League may be fined, suspended or expelled. Participation includes, but is not limited to, competing, guest posing, giving a seminar, judging, officiating, promoting, endorsing or otherwise taking part in any capacity whatsoever in a non-approved or non-sanctioned competition or event.
1.8 Membership in Other Organizations:
Once accepted as a Member of the Pro League, no Athlete, Judge or Official will hold membership in any other professional bodybuilding, fitness or figure organization; nor will that Member participate in, promote or endorse in any capacity whatsoever their activities, failing which the Member may be fined, suspended or expelled.
9.1 General:
Athletes, Judges, and Officials join the Pro League of their own free will doing, agree to abide by the Pro Rules. Should a Member contravene Rules, that Member is considered automatically suspended from the Pro thus prohibiting participation in any Pro League activity worldwide.
9.2 Failure to Abide:
Failure to abide by the Pro Rules will normally call for an investigation by an “ad hoc” Pro Disciplinary Committee. If a Member is found guilty of contravening the Pro Rules, including the Code of Ethics, or of conduct prejudicial to the Pro
League, that Member may be fined, suspended, or expelled.
9.6 Public Comments:
Public comments (including, but not limited to, those made via print publications, websites, public gatherings or other public forums) made by a Member of the Pro League against another Member of the Pro League, the Pro League itself, or the
sport in general, which are deemed personal, abusive, slanderous, libelous or prejudicial to the good image of the sport, are contrary to the Code of Ethics and will result in disciplinary measures being taken by the Pro League against the person responsible for the comments.
9.7 Protests:
The Pro League accepts that any Member has the right to protest a judging, disciplinary or other decision taken against that Member. However, the Pro League believes that all protests, regardless of the reason for the protest, must be carried out in a professional, courteous and respectful manner. Protests will be made in writing and will be forwarded to the Pro Committee. This Committee will investigate the protest, or cause the protest to be investigated, and will issue its findings within thirty days of the date of the Letter of Protest.
9.8 Complaints:
Any Member who believes that he or she has been wronged has the right to file a complaint in writing to the Pro Committee. The Pro Committee will investigate and will make a determination on the complaint within thirty days of the date of
the Letter of Complaint.
9.9 Prejudicial Conduct:
Prejudicial conduct is defined as any conduct that is demonstrably prejudicial to the Pro League, whether through gross malfeasance or egregious moral behavior. Any Member may be disciplined for prejudicial conduct.
9.10 Code of Ethics:
Disciplinary action may be taken against any Member who contravenes the Code of Ethics, which forms an integral part of the Pro Rules.
9.11 Provisional Suspensions:
Depending on the circumstances (e.g. severity of the offence), the Pro League may provisionally suspend an Athlete pending a hearing. In such cases, the hearing will be expedited.
-

Well if am in my best shape with pics to prove and show pics of past shows and where i have placed in same or less condition it will all fall into place. And the list goes on
-
I find Chick's rather smug attitude regarding this rather disgusting. Even while suspended Lee would be an IFBB athlete. I think IFBB athletes need individual representatives/agents instead of one because this one obviously is experiencing a conflict of interest for some reason.
It's got nothing to do with "smug"...I don't write the rules or enforce them, for that matter.
If Lee feels as though he's getting a "raw deal" (like Arnold)...he can hire a lawyer as is his constitutional right...theres nothing I can do for him.
-
Lee has a right to a hearing if he is suspended and if they suspend him now, the hearing would need to be before the Olympia, according to their own rules. Perhaps they will have e hearing before the Mr. Olympia where Lee may or not be suspended and he gets to say what he wants to say.
Article 10 – Hearings and Appeals
10.1 Hearings:
Except as indicated in Article 9.11, no Member may be subjected to disciplinary measures unless that Member is first given an opportunity to answer the alleged offence, whether in writing or in-person, at a hearing conducted by the Pro Committee. The Pro Committee may itself order that a hearing take place. The Member who is the subject of the hearing may present his or her submission in writing or in person as the case may be and may be represented by a person of his or her own choosing. The Pro Committee will consider the submission and decide upon the matter.
10.2 Appeals:
Any Member who is the subject of disciplinary measures as decided at a hearing of the Pro Committee may file a written appeal to the Pro League. The appeal must be submitted within ten (10) days of the date of the hearing decision, failing which the right of appeal is forfeited. A three-member panel shall decide the appeal. No person who voted at a hearing decision may sit on the appeal panel resulting from that same hearing.

Funny how Chick keeps forgetting that suspension isn't the only option. Lee could also be fined and allowed to compete.
-

Lee, seriously...you can't PROVE where you would have placed, when the entire judging system is based on opinion. You've also showed up and NOT placed in the money at the Olympia...Taking some pictures while NOT on the same stage as those you would have been compared against, would prove nothing.
I know what you're trying to say, but it doesn't work that way in the court of law...
-

From the man that can't even follow the rules he is enjoying rubbing in Lee's face.
-
they have no other choice but to suspend Lee! this is a matter of self preservation. If they don't then other atheletes will see it as a sign of approval to actively participate in the PDI.
it amazes me that Bob isn't suporting Lee on this. So much for being a Rep!!!!
-
So much for being a Rep!!!!
He's Manion's rep.

Bingo.

Support him by doing what, exactly?

lol, someone just deleted the thread where they proved that Bob violated the rules and will not be suspended
Bob wouldn't do that ::)

Why should he support him? Lee knows the rules. If he compete in the pdi, he will be suspended. End of fuking story. I see that some of you dislike Chick for other reasons but this bs has got to stop.
-
He's Manion's rep.
ok, thanks for clearing that up...now it makes sense. Sorry Bob for not understanding sooner.
-

Chic even you can tell your whole tone has changed since you have had egg thrown in your face. Remember just one week ago how you could put up a good fight and arguement. One week later and you can't defend anything. And you advice you give Lee about hiring a lawyer cause you can't do anything for him is something you shoudl actually say to every IFBB Pro. Your membership is going to be going down soon. So maybe itwill be easier for you.
-

Read the rules. They could fine him instead. Also, in regards to the rules, not all of them are applied equally and it is this kind of hypocrisy that Lee is tired of.
-
Support him by doing what, exactly?
that is what Reps do!!! you pay a fee and your "rep" sticks up for it's members.
This is not complicated Bob
-

I find it strange Lee is always being fined and in the hot seat all the time. Dont ya think
-
I find it strange Lee is always being fined and in the hot seat all the time. Dont ya think
I do, but what is worse is that although there are clear infractions on the part of other members of the IFBB according to their code of conduct, that only Lee is held accountable.
-
Well..that wouldn't do you much good, as it's a competition, and there is no guarantee (m eaning, you couldn't prove in a court of law) that you would place in the money.
Actually, Bob, every athlete in the O, even those who place dead last, earn $4,000, right?
Monster irony that the measure you fought for, would be the same one that lee would use to nail them for suspending him. Lee is guaranteed $4000 for stepping onstage at the Olympia. Even if he doesn't diet and comes in last place.
So when you say 'there is no guarantee that you'd finish in the money', I'm not sure that's correct.
-

Oh god at least now Chic has Sgt Dick supporting him. This validates everything everyone else is saying. Sgt. you are hurting what reputation Chic has left. Go play on the porno board I think they have a thread on animals.
In their own by-laws it states Lee is has a right to a hearing and can file an appeal. If he wants to do the Olympia he can. I promise he will place very low and someone please has a video recorder going with the sound up cause those 1000 people are going to make the noise of 5000. It's going to be worth just going to see that. But, I'll wait for it to hit cable.

Very good point Rob. How about this Chic. Lee go to KFC everyday from now on.
-
Judging by the posted rules, I would say just about all in the O would have broken those rules , they are so open to interpretation it is ridiculous , very very hard to defend open ended rules such as that !!
-

Go play with another spider and get your fatass own again. I still dont know who you are.
-
I wonder does going to a other organisations event and paying to get in constitute as supporting said organisation, I am pretty sure it would , wouldn't it ??
-
I do not expect Lee to be suspended. MAYBE they will try to with hold his earnings from the O until a later hearing or something, but not suspended. Either way more IFBB BB's will be competing in the PDI in the future, no doubt.
Instead of being a goffer and follower, Lee proved he is a leader and more will be following his lead.
-
lee even if they give you a phone call, maybe you should just showup and walk onstage with the superman outfit and pose. I dont think they are going to try to get you offstage you have mad fan support. I would love to see that anyways.......
-

It would also be irrelevant, IF he were suspended anyway...You can't sue on the grounds that IF I weren't suspended, I would've made money. The fact that you WERE suspended for your own actions, make it a non-issue...
DOH!
-
Lee if you get suspended (which they can't really), you should go to the show anyway. And in the stands do an impromptu posing routine during the show. It would bring down the house. You would be plastered everywhere in every magazine. You would immeditely be the hero
-

Thats actually a pretty good idea.. Hugely disruptive too :)
-
Whether you like it or not....
Whether he deserves it or not...
Lee is one of the biggest names in BB right now. His name recognition is huge compared to most. He doesn’t even have to place in the top of the O and he will still be one of the most well known names in BB. It's pretty amazing if you ask me. And no, its not because hes a "bad boy" or because he stirs shit on getbig. It's much more than that. People who barely know 3-4 pro bodybuilders know who Lee Priest is. Supplement companies know this, the IFBB knows this. He has a huge fan base.
This will be interesting to say the least.
-
Lee if you get suspended (which they can't really), you should go to the show anyway. And in the stands do an impromptu posing routine during the show. It would bring down the house. You would be plastered everywhere in every magazine. You would immeditely be the hero
maybe they are all planning something along those lines and we are all buying into it...
-
It would also be irrelevant, IF he were suspended anyway...You can't sue on the grounds that IF I weren't suspended, I would've made money.
Then why did you bring that up?
Well..that wouldn't do you much good, as it's a competition, and there is no guarantee (m eaning, you couldn't prove in a court of law) that you would place in the money.
???
-
Then why did you bring that up?
???
I brought it up because he asked, initially...and then made a statement to the answer...thats why.
-
Hah, just remember what country you're in. People sue each other in america for most inane nonsense.
-
You have to remember if they suspend Lee, Lee will sue. He has showed he does what he says he will do. Unlike other pros. And no matter what Lee will win with an out of court settlement. The IFBB is one of the most crooked organizations on the planet and they promote drug use. Do you think they want to be in a courtroom. HELL NO!. But if I was I would reject any offer and make sure they go to court. Oh my what news that would be. Bye Bye IFBB.
-
Support him by doing what, exactly?
And on another hand he supports Shahriar Kamali.
By the way, I heard that Bob was wearing a hearpiece.
Is it true ?
-
What leg does Lee have to stand on if he did actually break the organisation's rules?
-
I think the whole crux of the argument will be wether or not the rules are actually enforceable and in what way have they enforced such rules in the past, not to mention the open interpretation of the rules and the fact they stipulate no specifics per say to act upon !!
-
Lee if you get suspended (which they can't really), you should go to the show anyway. And in the stands do an impromptu posing routine during the show. It would bring down the house. You would be plastered everywhere in every magazine. You would immeditely be the hero
you know, while a little over the board, thats a really good idea!!!!
Lee would become the leader of the excluded and overlooked people!!!!
kinda like a living Neo, you know??? ;D
-
;D This is all happening in the great ol' US of A....and the whole world knows that anything is possible in America! Many think Lee will be banned from the 'O'(IFBB)...i think not. He's too much of an asset to lose....especially since a lot of the pros you see these days dont display a respectable/appealing physique like Lee does.So to kick Lee out would just reduce the number of good marketable pro bodybuilders in the IFBB stable.Just my two cents.
-
Will Valentine Jabes be banned from further IFBB events and suspended as well?

Want to make a bet on whether the crowd would love Lee Priest to jump up and start posing? :)
-
No, I 'd love it as well!
Do it LEE, go for it :-*
-
Bear with me on this...
Lee supports the fledgling PDI by competing in their first show....
The IFBB then fines/expels/suspends Lee for doing so...
Then the whole IFBB top brass are eligible to be fined/expelled/suspended...
...doesn't fining/expeling/suspending a top name bodybuilder thereby forcing him to compete in the ONLY other pro bodybuilding federation also constitute supporting the PDI?
Speak on this Chick...
The Luke
-
You know...you just might have something there...BRILLIANT!!
Except there have been other pro BB federations or 50 years now...
-
You know...you just might have something there...BRILLIANT!!

Bob,
If Lee gets suspended then he'll be an exclusively PDI athlete for the rest of his bb career... how would that help the IFBB?
What the IFBB will do... (if they're smart) is fine Lee exactly the amount he won at the PDI show, to be subtracted from future purses (or to be made up by doing free guest-posings on behalf of the IFBB/Manion)... thereby keeping Lee in the IFBB and discouraging the top tier pros from defecting without any confrontation or legal issues.
Well, that's the advice the IFBB should be getting from their advisers... assuming they have a 140 IQ guy (like me) working for them. Time will tell how short-sighted/well-advised their actions will be...
The Luke
-
Support him by doing what, exactly?
Support him not getting suspended maybe?
You're an "Athlete's Rep" right....not an IFBB rep....right?
I think this is what everyone see's.
-

Yeah...Ok..."Hey IFBB, Dont suspend Lee"
Good?

The above is what will happen Bob... assuming a least someone at the IFBB is competent enough to operate heavy machinery.
The Luke
-
....and your point is what?
The IFBB will continue, it doesn't live and die with Lee priest, or any other single athlete.
Lee doesn't like anything about the IFBB, so why is he so insistant on being allowed to compete there?
He is free to go and compete where ever he wishes...PDI, NABBA, WABBA,etc.
If he wants to compete in the IFBB, he has to abide by the rules set forth...simple as that.

Bob,
Don't you mean if he wants to compete in the IFBB he has to abide by certain rules... but not all the rules...?
Unless the Olympia is going to be steroid tested this year? Of course the testing will take place after all the gay-for-pay and porno athletes are suspended right?

What career????? Bashing me is one thing, but jesus christ...It is a fact that Lee is one of the greatest bodybuilders of all time.
WTF?????? I mean seriously, how many shows has he either won, or been in the top 5?????
Plus endorsements and such????
Wow, is anything sacred on this board???

Let's not start with this bullshit again. The rulebook is a farce, but the fact remains that it's very fvcking clear the IFBB doesn't want it's people competing in other federations. That is one rule that will always be enforced, like it or not.
-
Yeah...Ok..."Hey IFBB, Dont suspend Lee"
Good?
Just a thought Bob....
but I would think the position of the "athelete's rep" is supposed to support the athletes in a fair & unbiased manner.
I can see where a lot of guys wouldn't want to be the rep because their selfish to begin with & don't give a shit about others.
But when you defend the "machine" over the athelete's themselves....it gives the appearance as something being corrupt.
-
Shawn and Bob,
Please don't quote pieces of my posts just to jab for cheap laughs... that's the reason there is so much resentment against you guys on this site... what's the point of having bodybuilding pros and industry insiders on a public message board if all they do is avoid the serious (and earnest) questions raised by the other members?
Why not address some of the topics I've raised rather than trot out glib jibes?

haha its actually funny that someone Could even say that about Lee Priest, a STILL COMPETING, pro bodybuilder.

Maybe I missed something, I am a fairly intelligent guy, but fail to find the huimor in my statement.
To even suggest Lee is anything less than one of the greatest is absurd.

UMMMM, okay.

Rhino, you're right.
Lee is the greatest.
Sorry Lee, my bad :-\
-
UMMMM, okay.
i was agreeing with you. thats all.
-
Lee a honest question, bashing aside. If you hate the IFBB so much then why do you want to compete at the olympia. Just wondering :-\

Well as Bob has stated before, the IFBB is the ONLY FEDERATION WITH ALL THE TOP NAMES... and if you were a top BB like LEE where else would you go ?
-
Okay, I wasn't sure, got it.....You know, sometimes people are sarcastic.
ah gotchya! but back on Topic i think Lee has nothing to worry about. And he knows it, which is why i think hes not worrying....just laughing.
-
Well as Bob has stated before, the IFBB is the ONLY FEDERATION WITH ALL THE TOP NAMES... and if you were a top BB like LEE where else would you go ?
Lee has clearly stated that he dislike everything about the IFBB. He says he only likes the fans. Why do he wants to compete at the olympia then? Just for the fans? :-\

Yeah, I have to admit, I admire him, because he has alwyas treated me with respect.....He is a good one, not only in bodybuilding, but as a person.
-
Well as Bob has stated before, the IFBB is the ONLY FEDERATION WITH ALL THE TOP NAMES... and if you were a top BB like LEE where else would you go ?
Well Lee is now a pdi athlete so he should be getting money thrown at him alot. PDI is a top federation right? The great almighty Wayne is running the show, so you cant go wrong there.
-
sure why not??
Lol if you hated your job so badly, would you only come to work there because of the customers?
-
Lol if you hated your job so badly, would you only come to work there because of the customers?
yes. I do. who wants to work?? who really wants to WORK anywhere? I've gone out of my way for customers lots of times, But we can't compare Lee's situation to anything I do. In lee's case he could do something like that just for the fans.

I see I tried to be nice for awhile. Anyways looking at your contest pictures you didnt bother to train or diet.

You would think that since Bob and Shawn said Lee would immediately be suspended upon competing in the NOC that something would have already happened by now. Here it is Tues. afternoon and no word from the IFBB. What's going on with this Bob or Shawn.
-
Surely one of you have heard something.

I have been thinking. I think we should give Sean a little benefit of the doubt. You see Sean in a way has what Melvin has. Sean is under the impression he is liked. Sure some guys like his body from along time ago but those same people are also ones that really don't like him. He was not liked as a competitor by his fellow competitors and nowadays his so-called fans don't really like him except for his cousin sgt dick. Now he no longer competes and Lee has always receievd more publicity and is much better liked than Sean and Sean is basically a little jealous of all the attention Lee is still getting. I mean here is Sean who in all his years competiting never won the big show. Sure he competed what 12 times or whatever. In each year did he have to qualify. DId he win any shows but 2. He might have competed in 12 Olympias but he never won. And he never had to qualify each year so how hard is it to just enter. After being a loser for so long he decided it was time to play golf. He should have done that earlier. Now he rags on Lee who obviously blows him away in popularity and fan base and Sean hates it. Someday Sean will sit back in his cell and contemplate his life. He'll think about all the bad things he has done and wish he could turn them all around. His so-called turning Christian backfired on him and has been his crutch that broke. It's sad seeing him go down like this. He had a great run at the after parties in NY. He made good money from the Gay community and even dabbled in the 1/2 guy 1/2 girl world. He is a man among fruits and his legacy will live on (in his mind) Peace Out Sean

OK here it is....spoke to Jim Manion he didn't know about suspension.I asked was i suspended or not needing to know so i can do Olympia prep and change ticket from Thurs to Weds so i can be at meeting for athletes.Jim said he didn't know Ben knows what happended and it comes from BEN (BOB THERE YOU HAVE IT REMEMBER YOU ASKED ABOUT MY SUSPENSIONS AND FINES SAYING WAYNE DID IT) Well Bob you were wrong as normal it comes from Ben just like i told you.So Jim asked should Ben drop everything to answer me?I said know but with the Olympia a week and a half away i need to know i am not going through all that stufff to be told at meeting"oh by the way you are not competing" If it was a month or two fine take your time, but it isn't.So that is where we stand NOWHERE.No one knowing nothing. So i guess when Ben finds time we will know.
The courts will always be there waiting as well.

So if Lee get's the axe...it's Ben behind it all
-
Wouldn't it be funny if at the Olympia Expo the most popular and crowded booth which was the loadest one was Lee's. I bet the IFBB will stand at attention then. Then they'd send their little brown nose puppet Chic out to deal with it as the athlete's rep and everyone turns around and laughs at him!!!...Fight the power Lee. IFBB is on a downward spiral anyway......
Plus imagine if some of the top guys- Cutler, Dex, Gunter, etc stood up to Lee. What would happen then?????

Lee
Of course the suspention has to be authorized by Ben...he's the head honcho. It had to be brought up to him, as I'm sure you would agree...Ben would have no idea if you competed in a hot dog eating contest,or a PDI show. It's called the chain of command.

This might answer your question...
Valentin Jabes (FRA) recently did the montreal Pro, and the PDI-NOC, so if he DOES compete this weekend in Atlantic City,(which by the way he IS ON THE LIST FOR) we should know what the position is on this "suspension" matter.

Lee why cant you answer my question? If you dont like how things are ran in the IFBB why do you want to compete at the olympia or any other IFBB show? If you enjoy the PDI so much then why dont you stay there and compete?

Major backflip from the flip-flopper himself.. I thought Ben didn't have that much involvement in the fines and suspensions??
-
He doesn't...he relies on the President (Wayne/ now Jim) to run the federation. Of course his name will be on the suspention...he owns the federation.
Much like people that work for Microsft have Bill Gates' name on their checks...even though I'm sure Bill doesn't even know who his employees are, nor sign them personally.

I don't even think a fine from the IFBB Pro Division would hold up in a court of law, due to there OPEN wordings in there Rules !!!
I showed the Rules to a lawyer friend of mine (admittedly a NZ lawyer) and he said the interpretation of the rules and there wording are farcical and would breach Contractual laws and Employment laws here in NZ !!
He said a decent lawyer would have the IFBB scrambling for a out of court settlement with in 3 turns of correspondence over this matter !!!
" For What it is Worth" hrdcor
-
A fine can only be imposed if Lee decided to pay it... If the IFBB did levy a fine, it could only be enforced IF Lee decided he wanted to come back and compete for the IFBB....If not..they're SOL.
-
Yeah when do i get my letter or phone call? please do tell people would like to know.
Congratulations on winning a very controversial competition, Lee,
and liberating yourself yet again. You're a giant amongst hunchbacks.

So then why when i called Jim he couldn't give me a straight answer? instead of playing games this close to the Olympia?
-
they will fuck you up Lee, you'll come there in the morning and they'll tell you you can't compete

they will f**k you up Lee, you'll come there in the morning and they'll tell you you can't compete
Yeah i gathered that but hey that's cool.Courts start early morning too.So we can all meet on another day early before the judge. Not a problem.

You would hope they are more professional in there approach to this than that ,(I mean just look at what JM said to lee , you cant tell me he couldnt make a call to BW and say ,hey what are we ganna do about lee ??) but I have a funny feeling you may just be right Stavios, I would like to be wrong though !!
-
Or they could have also come to the realization that it really doesn't matter. Manion could have gone to Weider about the rule and just said that it does need to be changed and do so.
-
So then why when i called Jim he couldn't give me a straight answer? instead of playing games this close to the Olympia?
Jim makes his recommendation to Ben...Ben consults with the IFBB lawyers. I would hope they give you an answer sooner rather than later, but I'd be prepared to wait it out as well.
It's out of Jim's hands at this time...

Sadly, I think it will happen
The IFBB has to be the most unprofessional organisation on earth
Shit, If you suspend a guy, at least tell him straight up! don't let him keep the diet for nothing !

Rock and Roll, my brother....

Chick,
Any word on Valentin Jabes?
Since he stepped on the stage with Lee at the NOC and he is planning on appearing in Atlantic City
shouldn't he face suspension as well?
If Jabes is allowed to step on the Atlantic stage can the IFBB even suspend Lee Priest?
So Lee one way or another you will have your future with the IFBB answered sooner the later.
-
This is bullshit , you cant tell me JM cant talk to Ben about this and get a decision asap, and if there laws /rules were water tight why would they have to consult with lawyers , it should be as plane as black and white , there should be no hesitation on the suspension, it should have been handed down immediately , this just shows they have no idea where they stand , in fact JM should have been able to hand down the suspension himself , I mean whats his job title any how ??
-

Actually Marc it is plain as black and white on this case.
The rule book you keep referring to has it clearly stated that all issues like this have to reviewed by the president and he has final say in the matter. It is near the very front of the book ;)

If Valentin were allowed to compete in the AC, Then Lee would be sittin pretty when it comes to HIS case...I would assume that Valentin will be suspended.
On the other hand...you're assuming that Lee will be suspended for the same thing. The IFBB could suspend lee for any number of infractions, not necessarily violating the non-compete rule.
I guess it depends on what strategy the IFBB is looking to for...

I hear what you're saying, but the IFBB doesn't have anything in their own by-laws on what time frame they have to make a decision...they can give him an answer tomorrow, or wait until the athletes meeting on Thurs.

Well if they don't suspend Lee and Valentin for the non competion clause this would set up a precident and the "dam would burst" so to speak. This might actually even give the PDI a fighting chance.

I think it sucks
I hate the fact that the IFBB can make everything turned out how they want with their stupid rules
A LOT of bodybuilders brake those rules and aren't suspended

That being the case then all is not black and white as if it were Ben could have made a call almost imediatly , so they are obviously are trying to establish just where they stand on this matter legaly as it will be the fore runner to where Pro body building goes in the near future !!

I've always loved your comparisons. You are always trying to compare the raunchy methods of operations to major companies and organizations. Football, baseball, basketball and others and now Microsoft. Monster over-doing it. But it sounds good.
-
It seems to me the IFBB has lost the plot. The only contest that has big status in bodybuilding is the Olympia. All the others are nice but don't have the prestige. The IFBB should care less who puts on contests and should allow anyone to enter their shows. As soon as contracts are signed it all smacks of insider stuff. There are not enough big contests out there and if people want to promote bodybuilding then let others run or enter whatever they like. Look at the pickle Lee has caused! What is the IFBB going to do? The sensible thing to do is change the rules for professional bodybuilders who are independent contractors. You have to love the way the Weiders limit costs. They have always been like that. Remember when the prize money for the Olympia was $1,000? Now the promoters pay for prize money and not the IFBB. That is a nice trick, don't you think? The IFBB gets paid by the promoter and the promoter pays all the costs. The IFBB is right about one thing. Most bodybuilders are gutless and will co-operate just to make sure they get a chance at placing in a contest.
-
The ifbb and court cases, didnt they disqualify Jay Cutler for diuretics once and then on the threat of legal action have to reinstate him and return his prize money, you have to be real careful here bob that the ifbb could end up on trial here, the whold drug issue and lack of testing and everthing could all end up here, in my opinion the reason why Priest isnt suspended yet is cause there is a huge can of worms that could be opened up here and the sport could get a black eye that it could never recover from.I have always wondered if someone can sue Mc Donalds for making you fat, how longs it going to be before an athlete sues the ifbb for having to take drugs to be competitive, never happen, i wouldnt put money on it not.
-

Why do *I* have to be careful?? I don't run the IFBB, and I'm not responsible for what actions they take or don't take...If they allow athletes to compete elsewhere...great. If they don't...great. It wouldn't change much in the scheme of things anyway...the same guys that would consider competing elsewhere, would do it anyway. Guys that wouldn't go elsewhere, still wouldn't.
-
Lee has clearly stated that he dislike everything about the IFBB. He says he only likes the fans. Why do he wants to compete at the olympia then? Just for the fans? :-\
How many people do you know that can't stand their employer...Probably well over 75%...People go where the money is...period....why would he be any different...If sponsers(where the money is) start really backing other organizations, im sure Lee would follow them...
I bet if you took a pole from all the IFBB athletes, you would find that over 75% of them also can't stand the way the IFBB runs....
-

No i would need to know by then.As Twinlab got my ticket to the Olympia i get there Thurs ,meeting is weds plus,i would need to puit color on,change supps over :),water pills, eating the diet would change. This can not all be done l;ast minute so yes they are setting themselves up for the big fall.Shawn where is the Ben jumping of that building again....?
-
Hey, Bob, you have to admit that is funny to read. Day after day you defend and interpret controversial IFBB rules. When someone calls you on it you say:
**Why do *I* have to be careful?? I don't run the IFBB, and I'm not responsible for what actions they take or don't take**
Made me laugh out loud it did. Sort of proving we often get what we deserve in life and we deserve what we get.
-
..If they allow athletes to compete elsewhere...great. If they don't...great. It wouldn't change much in the scheme of things anyway...the same guys that would consider competing elsewhere, would do it anyway. Guys that wouldn't go elsewhere, still wouldn't.
So if it's no big deal, "great" either way, and "nothing would change much in the scheme of things", why exactly does the IFBB have to suspend Lee? Why does the rule even exist at all?
And you wonder why people compare you to the Iraqi Minister of Information? ::)
-

I thought the PDI was where the money is. Lee doesnt like how ifbb is ran , so just stay with PDI.

They can't "call me on it"...when it ain't mine to get called on. Whats so hard to distinguish between INTERPRETING the rules and MAKING them?
Try and also figure out the difference when you say "defending"...
Once again...I don't make or enforce rules.
GOATBOY-
See above.
-
Bob, you once said that Lee would be suspended from the IFBB the minute he steps foot on the NOC stage. He did just that Sat. night and now it's Wed., what's the hold-up. Were you wrong in what you said? You made it sound so cut and dry and that there would be no question about it. Now everyone [especially Lee] is waiting for an answer. As athletes rep. you can't get him one.
-
Is Valetine Jabes going to be suspended. Isn't he an IFBB pro also.
-
I have to be the first to say it but the IFBB is dead. Look at it floundering away. No one at the helm and clowns representing the family. Bodybuilding is officially now a big joke. Good thing many of us have a good sense of humour.
Bob, accept some of the crap that you deserve as official busboy.
-
There's a big joke here...it's in the mirror "Mr. Canada".
Shut the fuck up, you couldn't be more removed or in the dark as you are...

I just don't see how the IFBB can let any of this go to a court. For that matter, I don't get how or why none of the WBF guys took them to court at the time of their own suspensions/expulsions.
Recent history (Jay in 2001) seems to show that the IFBB is not interested in seeing the inside of a courtroom. Of course, if Jay or Lee were to hurt the IFBB (by proving they are not a non-profit organization, for one thing), they'd lose a big source of their income, at least for a little while.
-
Bob, could you please try to answer my last 2 posts. I'm not trying to ruffle feathers here I would just like some answers and you are the voice of the IFBB for GETBIG and we aren't getting answers.
-
So would i like some answers. The clock is ticking.
Bob any news you are the ifbb athlete rep which i still am a memeber. So if you hear let me and us on here know.
thanks
Lee

You are most likely no longer an IFBB member ever since you stepped on a PDI stage. Unless they forgive or something but I wouldn't be surprised if you got slapped with a big fine

Then that is all they have to say....but they are saying nothing very good of them huh? Why they being silent i heard from day one i would be suspended i did PDI so i am waiting for thier answer.......

Some may want to hold off on buying Olympia tickets. Just in case they don't let Lee compete.
-
SOMEONE PLEASE GIVE US AN ANSWER
-
Ron, could you help us out by making a few phone calls. We know you are highly respected in the industry so maybe someone will tell you. The powers that be obviously don't care about the fans or they would have made a decision by now.
-
BODYBUILDING FANS, FLEX FANS, IFBB FANS AND COMPETITORS FROM AROUND THE WORLD ALL WANT TO KNOW WHAT'S GOING TO HAPPEN. IT'S WEDNESDAY FOR GODS SAKE
-
I think a letter writing campaign is in order.
Those of you that want Lee to be at the Olympia should say so in an email.
NOw does anyone have an email that will really get to someone at the IFBB. Post it here if you do please.
-
They probably feel if they suspend Lee now they may lose allot of fans that want to go to the show and see Lee. Plus, they really DO NOT know what to do. There biggest show is in two weeks and one of their most popular competitors has caused an issue that needs to be addressed yet no one has any idea what to do. If they do any type of suspension Lee will take them to court. Unlike the other members of the IFBB Lee is not afraid of them and will take them to court. They know this now by his recent actions. And there is NO WAY IN HELL the IFBB wants to see the inside of a court. With their pro steroid and tax issues it would destroy them.
-
Bob, Shawn, Ron, you guys there. You always talk about us not being in the "KNOW" like you guys are. DO YOU "KNOW" ANYTHING YET.
-
If the IFBB had any decency they would let Lee know asap rather than drag it out till the 11th hour.
That way, if Lee wanted to appeal the decision a'la restraint of trade, he could then have the matter heard in the appropriate jurisdiction. ;)
Well, any delay certainly works in his favor.
He'll be able to file a grievance via his professional union which would allow him to compete in any sanctioned events until he has a proper hearing with the division of the governing body responsible for these cases.
-

FUCK of a good point man...
Lee, think about it bro - if you 'subtly' let them know that you have nor problems taking them to court, they will be FORCED to realize that court isn't the best option, no, court ISN'T an option. Threaten them Lee, like they've threatened you. Let them know (again, subtly) that if THEY ruin your career, you can ruin their FEDERATION... again, indirectly.
-

I'm sure Lee is on top of that. And I'm sure he's retained someone already, who as we speak is writing down in his notebook that the IFBB has not yet made any attempt to tell Lee he is no longer welcome (read: bad faith). Given the arbitrary enforcement of many of the rules, I don't think Lee should be expected to assume he's "out". Of course, Lee cannot sue for any damages related to his "prep", just his time.
Odd that Wayne hasn't tried to hurt the IFBB, assuming they are, in fact, not the non-profit organization they claim to be. He would certainly be in the know if they were making a profit somewhere...
Lee, I'm sure that those on the inside are chastizing you for taking this matter outside "the family", but in my family, my father provided for us, he didn't exploit us, so don't let it get to you.
-
I'm sure the guys who are in the "KNOW" are off and running trying to get an answer. Since they are who they are. That's why we haven't heard from them. THEY'LL BE GETTING WITH US SOON.
-
OOOOOH, BOB
OOOOOH, SHAWN
RON, IS ANYBODY OUT THERE
-
I don't get how or why none of the WBF guys took them to court at the time of their own suspensions/expulsions.
Because those guys didn't want/need to compete in the IFBB. The WBF was paying them a ton of money, and (I could be wrong on this) I think McMahon would not let them compete in both either.
Notice how after the WBF folded they were all quietly let back in if they wanted?
This is a completely different situation, since PDI has no problem with anyone competing in both, and PDI doesn't have these guys under contract like the WBF did (of course, neither does IFBB).
-
OOOOOH, BOB
OOOOOH, SHAWN
RON, IS ANYBODY OUT THERE
Seems a bit like bit since I brought up the fact that Lee has the power to RUIN the entire IFBB's credibility with a simple lawsuit... the powers that be have gotten quiet all of a sudden scrambling over themselves to find holes in that possibility.
(except for Ron, he may be a 'power that be' but he's not going to suspend Lee by any means..)

So what if I am a joke, removed or in the dark you are still a stooge for the IFBB and now you are looking like a fool for your part in this fiasco. You didn't mention how old I am as a putdown so you must be a nice guy, afterall. Naw, you knew it was my birthday today in Australia where it is the 21st. Represent the athletes including Lee and stop being the busboy for Manion. The whole carnival seems like a scene out of the Godfather!

In ALLL fairness though bro, what exactly do you want Bob to do about it? I'm not on Bob's nuts about a lotta things, but let's say Bob was Lee's best friend since the THRID GRADE, even still, there is NOT a lot he can do. He's just a representative (although it seems he wants to be a little more at times...) and not the HEAD of the f*cking IFBB.
Before you berate Bob anymore, just keep that in mind.

GETBIG: #1 SOURCE OF AMERICAN BODYBUILDING AND FITNESS INFO.
That's what the homepage says and I'll keep this going until we get an answer. You see I'M stuck at home with nothing to do since I had surgery Monday. So I might as well keep this going for Lee. The only time this won't be at the top is when the medicine puts me to sleep.
-
I agree VEIN-X, but don't you think Bob has at least heard something. I not getting on anyones ass but they said they were in the "KNOW"

I agree VEIN-X, but don't you think Bob has at least heard something. I not getting on anyones ass but they said they were in the "KNOW"
Well shit dude, you heard it STRAIGHT from the mouth of the champ himself, Lee Priest.
He said that he CALLED the HEAD of the organization and couldn't get a direct answer. So I'd imagine that if the PRESIDENT of it all doesn't know, Bob's not going to know anything at all.
-
Possibly true, unless they have all been told to keep quiet until they are told to say something. This being such top secret information maybe CNN or FOX will interrupt programming to bring us this BREAKING NEWS STORY. We will all be waiting.
-
From my removed and dark corner of the world it still looks like Bob and company are a bunch of incompetents. I so detest the way the IFBB likes to say things are official and so on. What a load of crock. Bodybuilding is just a physique contest and the IFBB represent the Weider business empire. Things have changed a bit since that empire was sold but the organization is still trying to hold on. Rome is crumbling as we speak.
The IFBB is now a circus and the clowns are performing. It is bad business for clowns to get angry at the audience. What a bunch of pompous asses we have running bodybuilding. There is all-the-answers Bob being stumped on line. You gotta love this joke. They talk about the IFBB as if it is some mysterious, removed and dark organization. I hope Lee gets a court to put an injunction on the Olympia if they block him competing! Well, that would be sad for the contest but you know, what happens to individuals eventually can affect everyone.

It's not a real picture of his wife bro.. it's an 'Anti Domestic Violence' flyer and the woman's eye is swollen, presumably from a punch. MAN that made my day!!!

I really need to know if Lee is competing so I can slide him into a position on my muscle fantasy league picks.

So does Lee so he knows if he needs to prepear properly.I am not going through hell to be told at the last hour sorry your out.Plans need to be made.....
-
True. Good Luck Lee. I have you at about 7th. Try to make that happen so I can win a new plasma TV or whatever it is I win.
-

I think you should just do the O without dieting.
Oh, wait.... you did that once already, huh?
-
And still didn't finish last. ::)
-

Good point, lee. The IFBB will be FUCKED if they allow this to end up in court....the extremes they knowingly allow competitors to go through in order to contend. holding their answer until the last minute knowing full well the position this puts bodybuilders would not be a good idea for them. Again I say no suspension.
-
Hence the reason for a delay on a decision as they are obviously consulting legal advice over this matter, you have to look at the big picture here , If they let lee compete then the flood gates are open on there monoply , but if they suspend him they will most certainty have a legal battle to contend with , which will not be a cut and dry case for them due to there lack luster ability to uphold there rules and there poor wording of such rulings , so potentially this is a huge decision for them as it has the potential to change the format of probodybuilding as we have come to know it today !!
-
Now that can only be a good thing.IMO.
-
Look, popular Bob was warning Lee what the deal was. There was no confusion. Now that the rule has been broken what will the IFBB do? Obviously the puppet can't talk for himself so is left dangling like a clown. You gotta love the way the IFBB look after their own.
-

Ahhh yes but by his own admission Chic has no say or ability to influence say on this matter and he also didn't know where lee would stand by the letter of the law in this matter so Chic's advice was purely based on assumption as is every one,s else's , so Chic was basically siding with the IFBB on this matter rather than just being honest and saying , "Shit Dude I have absolutely no idea what will happen here" rather than be so convinced on his stance (based on his position as the athletes rep) on the matter !!
-
I have given this some thought as a fan. Please allow me to add my 2 cents...
Bob, I have great respect for you and am a big fan. But I am disappointed that you do not represent Lee in this matter. You are supposed to be the athletes rep. Yes, Lee broke the rule and is subject to punishment. But I think it is incumbent on you to make sure the punishment is the least possible. In this matter, you look like a shill for the IFBB blue blazers and not a rep for the athlete.
Lee, I also have great respect for you. You are my favorite BB. I love your outspoken personality as well as your physique. And you have a cool accent! Come back to the IFBB if they allow you to. You are a fan favorite. But don't take this to court. You will give the IFBB an undeserved black eye among the 'regular' people. We should all try to bring fans into the sport, not just appeal to those that already are. It's bad enough that we as an industry have to deal with the Titus/Ryan murder drama. (i digress...Craig is going to give this sport a big black eye. He does not look good in interviews, he comes off as a self-centered jerk. He shows that he is a total moron by firing his legal team for having the temerity to tell him to STFU. I bet his next lawyer tells him to "be quiet". then he'll get fired, then the next and the next and so on....end digression) We need more "good" guys to appeal to the masses. Lee, you made your point. You have bloodied the nose of the IFBB, but leave it at that. Be a voice within the IFBB and act for change within the system. You and Bob should be on the same page on many of the issues that you have.
Are Lee's complaints really THAT outrageous? We all know this federation is not centered around the athletes. C'mon, anyone out of the top 10 at the marquee event of our sport, where everyone has to earn their entry, didn't even get a dime until last year? C'mon people, that is a sign of a minor league sport that is NOT ready for prime time.
My friends, isn't this the kind of backstabbing and politicking that we were complaining about in last weeks PBW regarding the Magazine Wars? We need to work together as fans and athletes and IFBB brass and suppliment companies and media groups and websites to grow our beloved sport. Yes, a little personality and conflict is fun and builds excitement. But when you get down to suspensions, lawyers, courts, etc...it's too much and can only damage our sport's reputation in the outside world.
WE NEED TO BRING IN NEW, OUTSIDE FANS TO GROW THIS SPORT!
To the IFBB head honchos, fine Lee and let him in the to the Big Show. Lee is a marquee name in this sport. Additionally, he is one of the few pros who actually has a life outside the industry. A real, visible presence outside the sport with his racing. I guarantee you (Lee, back me up on this) that any story about Lee in the racing media (magazine, web sites, word of mouth by racing fans) mentions that he is a professional bodybuilder. That builds interest outside the narrow confines of the sport.
Lets face it, this sport and industry is pretty small and insular. You know each other, you talk to each other, you sleep with each other, you marry each other, you interview each other, you rat on each other, you don't rat each other, you (rarely) kill each other... We don't attract many outside fans. We don't get any play on ESPN or ESPN 2 or ESPN 8 "the ocho". (Even if there were an ESPN 8, would pro BB be on it?) We have very few crossover athletes. Arnold certainly is. Lou is still famous. Can we include Triple H? Roided up baseball players don't bring people to the sport. (perhaps outside of the interview Canseco did on PBW.)
Lee is one of the few athletes with crossover potential. Im sorry, but Ronnie is not well spoken nor articulate as the champion in our sport. (Is everyone on crack, Ronnie? How very middle-school-playground of you.) Jay seems nice, but he doesn't seem to have a dynamic personality for media presentation. Dexter seems like a personable, media friendly pro. We have great diversity in our sport, except for maybe Asians. We need to use that to our advantage. Gunter would be a great draw. (Muscular, tall, good smile, exotic accent, very Arnold-like.) Maybe he could get some face time on network TV via Kim Lyons' reality show on NBC, The Biggest Loser.
Look how many regular folks go the Expo at the Arnold. This is where the new fan base will come from. One of the great things about having it in Columbus, Ohio is that the event takes over the town for a week. It is the biggest event in the region. Local media, government officials, local tourism officials, etc. put their muscle (no pun intended) and influence behind event. You get crossover fans from the other sport at the Arnold Weekend, but the centerpiece of the whole giant event is the Men's Professional Bodybuilding. I imagine that by comparison, the Olympia gets lost in the hustle and bustle of Vegas. I have been to the Arnold and seen this first hand. I have not been to the O, but I can imagine it is only one of many events in Vegas that it has to compete for publicity. Do local Vegas residents come to the Olympia, or is it just BB fans who travel from far across the fruited plain and the world? I know for a fact that the Arnold draws in a huge number of "regular" citizens and that gives our sport important exposure not to mention Arnold's drawing power. Thank god Arnold still shows up for the event and isn't just a name on the sign.
We need to keep our eye on the long term viability of the sport and work on bringing new fans into the sport. Isn't this why we introduced Fitness and then Figure? To broaden the appeal of the sport? Lee has great crossover drawing power with the racing fans. He is one of the few crossover athletes in this sport. It is especially important to strike while the iron is hot as Lee had a great year in racing. He is sure to bring in fans for this show. (Name one competitor who can draw more outside fans to the O this year) If he isn't there to compete, we will lose potential fans. Not to mention that if Lee is punished too harshly, he may leave the IFBB all together, which would be a loss of a marquee name.
I don't think this small sport can survive having two excusive federations. That dilutes the talent pool and you don't compete against ALL of the best BBers. It would be like boxing with three separate organizations. Who is the champion? The IFBB should remove the exclusivity clause. If the athletes are to be treated as independent contractors rather than as paid members of the IFBB, then they should be allowed to compete where they want. Competition can only strengthen the sport. We, of all people, understand that growth comes via working against resistance and pushing your limits and going outside your comfort zone. But I fear that the IFBB doesn't want resistance or competition and doesn't want to change and improve. They feel comfortable as a monopoly and therefore won't feel compelled to work on improving the mass appeal of the sport. Go ahead IFBB, keep doing the same routine over and over and wonder why you don't grow...
Thanks for your attention,
Jayhawk

I AGREE...VERY GOOD POST.
LEE
-
VERY LONG POST , BUT VERY GOOD , dont you work ?? :D
-
if the ifbb had any brains they would let guys compete both PDI and IFBB and then just put them last, not extremly obvious but within reason, if they go head to head they will lose face in court and maybe the whole court case. Court action then would have to be instigated by the athlete which would be costly as proving that your being overlooked and its effecting your earning capacity would be hard and costly to prove in court especially with the way the judging criteria is set.
I think they will let him compete and that he will place out of the top 10, if their smart but im all for Lee and the PDI, we need a change.
-
The IFBB has a proud history of placing recalcitrant athletes in 8th place.
-
Jayhawk, long but excellent post! Lets all send a copy to the IFBB!

Jayhawk makes a geat point, but let me add:
(Muscular, tall, good smile, ccent, very Arnold-like.) Maybe he could get some face time on network TV via Kim Lyons' reality show on NBC, The Biggest Loser.
Do local Vegas residents come to the Olympia, or is it just BB fans who from far across the fruited plain and the world?
