Thats exactly what you suggested.

Easier to control makes them better.

Being easier to control, doesn't necessarily make for a better slave, ...it simply makes one easier to control.
It's like people...look at Bush. I'm sure Cheney or whoever it is that pulls his strings controls him quite easily.
Has it made him a better president?

Quote
If you wanted to make a comment free from any ties to slavery you say Babies who experience trauma during pregnancy often have development and psychological problems as they grow.

I wasn't looking to make a comment free from any ties to slavery. And I wasn't refering to developmental or psychological problems growing up. I was refering to a human being more susceptible to control and manipulation through their reptilian brain. This occurs across all races, ...however, ...during the era of slavery in America, the manipulation of children in utero was common practice.

Nice; I wouldn't mind testing Sydney out for a year, provided of course I could get a visa. Thing is; Oceania just seems so cut off from the rest of the world.

Unless you travel a lot, i don't see how that could be a concern. Its not like we are sitting here acting all lonely and wishing we were closer to everyone else :D

Its good here. Most people who "test it out" end up staying.
No doubt about it...

Boy is it ever. If you are a person who plans to sit around in one country 99% of the time and don't mind the insularity, high prices and reduction of amenities that remoteness breeds, it's a fantastic place to live. Crime like 4 times lower than the USA, far more attractive and cleaner place, friendly people, free health etc. And the crime is not a 'statistic' you 'feel' it when you are there, much safer place, same as you feel it here. Easily on par with US standard, if not above, depending on preference - like all 1st world.

Its better than America anyway...

Australia is one of my favorites if I would move out of The Netherlands. I love the outdoors. Spending some time on the internet is fun to, but it's nothing compared to the outdoors. Any outdoor activity will suit me just fine. It exercises the body and it clears the mind.  8)

Exactly. Nothing beats sipping a coffee in a nice European city, relaxing, enjoying the architecture and shooting the shit. Americans don't do that because they have no time.

It seems to me that they are just busy all the time working and worrying about their careers, and all they have is 2 lousy weeks vacation a year.  I have 8 weeks of payed vacation!!  :D

LOL, I mean no offense btw. As I've said through the thread, all 1st world is great, it's all preference. You are missing out on crime for one.

The high pricing makes many amenties reduced obviously, international trips, as a female some of the 'beauty' treatments found in New York, London, Paris cannot be obtained, the health/sugar/fat free foods/drinks to start.

Not being rude, can I ask what American cities you have visited? Or did you just go to small towns there or so while you were there?

Well when i went there we went to all the touristy places, LA ,Las Vegas, Chicago. But we also went to some places that most international tourists probably don't go. My uncle was a professor at Ohio State Uni, so we went to Columbus to visit them, then we all drove to Indianapolous (sp), then flew to Orlando.

All nice places, don't get me wrong. And the country side of Ohio and stuff was very nice.

I guess we were a bit surprised as when we landed in LA and caught a shuttle to were we stayed in Hollywood (Renaissance Hotel, nice) we went the back streets to avoid the big traffic jams and the areas we passed through were slums, i can't think of anything other to call them. Even just driving through them, we felt uneasy. Its just funny as 30mins down the road is Beverly Hills, the most over the top place ever, yet here we are passing through the "ghetto"...

Nothing against America, it just didn't seem as "special" as most Americans make it out to be...
No doubt about it...

I feel you. The 'ambiance' of the USA in general cannot touch Australia in general, something anyone well traveled in both nations like you and I see. The whole safety thing, especially as female, felt very different. Very attractive cities, very. Your high level of socialism may cause some high taxes, but I assume there are some, but never saw a 'street person' once, nor any signs of anything like that. Both great nations though as are so many more, they all win some and lose some. All depends on preference.

Yes very true.

I love America. I just don't love Americans (and there seems to be a frightening amount of them) who are very narrow minded and swear by the whole "America shits on any other country" mentality.

Haha, yes, it does get old. Being from one of the 25 nations with no income tax, I normally hit those types with that. "Am I jealous of your tax?". No one but a rampant fool cannot admit zero tax is cool. If they persist I toss the free college out to kill them ;D

Unplaced arrogance, insularity and lack of knowledge about other nations blows. Most those types can't scrub up a few grand to travel internationally, hence why they have no clue. We have nowhere near the prevalence of it here, but have the occasional ass who thinks like that also. They embarrass me to be frank.

Of course.

The "god bless America crew" more often than not consists of lower to middle class Americans who have never left their home state, let alone the country. Even if they could afford it, they probably wouldn't travel. I mean, what does another country have that we don't? ::)

By the way, where do you live?

LOL, yes...so true.

I'm from the Caribbean, but lived many places. Love my nation to death, but always interested in the world and love to see new places.

In fairness not zero tax, I do pay landowner tax and car tax. Like $500 a year combined, just breaks my pocket ;D

Actually, it's sliding. If I had an $80,000 car I would be stung royally.  And as a local, I pay reduced landowner tax. Foriegn nationals are restricted to only buying the horrifically priced mansions, and they are burnt with tax.

Some could end up paying a prety high amount [XX,XXX], if they were non-local and had a mega expensive car.
