Clubs paid $75 and tips were about $50 to $100. This was 1981-1985. We only did one show a night so that was it. Even the most popular guys topped out about the same. I used to work with a group that toured LA, San Bernardino and Orange County, CA.

I’m sure the guys at Chips were making more. They got a lot more traffic because of all the promotion they were doing.

You couldn’t make a living on it but it was nice extra cash and bennies. This was 1981-1985. I did some back East a few years earlier. A few friends and I actually started when we were in Florida on Spring break. A club manager approached us and hired all of us (about 6 of us) as a “plant” for a contest. 

Private parties like bachelorette or "naughty toy" parties (kind of like Tupperware but with "toys") were the best. Military wives who hadn't seen their men in 6 months.

I have gone to confession and I'm a better person now.
