Uh, most people I know that did it don't talk about it.

And service doesnt really equate to knowing history at all. A lot of the Marines I served with had a very basic knowledge of history.

well the british army is traditional and so history of each regiment/core is important. This is why we still turn out outstanding soldiers

We do that as well - but that only qualifies us to speak on our own branch's military history, it doesnt somehow mean we know more shit than others that have studied the subjects in depth.

Yes, I think it was called the Fake War or something like that. They bombed Poland with leaflets. They did put troops on the ground in France but most were Canadians. Battle of Britain was when things got serious.

This is a horribly vague question. What do you want to know? Im no scholar of WWII history by any stretch.

And I am a former US Marine, and I did study US military history quite extensively, and still maintain an interest in the subject, but that doesnt make me any more qualified to speak on the subject than anyone else thats done their research.

Itd be a different story if you were talking about the Marine Corp in particular, then I'd say I'd probably be more qualified to speak than your average Joe.

Im not sticking up for them, Im saying just because we served doesnt make us more knowledgeable than someone who has studied it intensively.
