i think general recommendations are designed specifically TO make people out of shape and sedentary, it's in the government's best interests. i mean, they recommend 75 grams of protein per day, no way that's nearly enough for anyone to build muscle on. perhaps a small woman. but i'm the paranoid sort.
I have more muscle than you and I probably average around 75-100 grams of protein per day.  Sometimes alot more, sometimes less, depending on what I cook or feel like eating.  ;)

Not true.  Its all about Calories in vs. Calories out simple as that.  No need to "purge" yourself or do anything silly like that.  I am 176.2 (this mornings weight) and I eat 2600 calories daily-Very low for me actually and have a nice six pack going on.   8)

You said 3200 for your weight and that's doing nothing ? Plus you are are active correct? So Eugene was eating almost 2000 calories more than you just to maintain his weight?

i'm 6'3". and i'm pretty sure you don't have more muscle than me. maybe scaled to proportion but definitely not in terms of overall mass.

Adam, I don't know if you're bored and just looking for controversy on an old subject or what, so I will humor you. The highlighted statement is only true if your only goal is lose bodyweight, meaning muscle, water and fat. If thats the case, you'll look better in your clothes but your body composition will remain practically the same. So, yes. In that case you're correct. For athletes, bodybuilders, etc that statement is so far wrong it's off the charts.

Eugene was eating 4000 daily and did train a few hours a day, every day and was pretty active.  He was under eating in comparison to his activity level hence is permanent ripped state.


I am grossly under eating as well at 2600 calories a day compared to my activity level.  I burn a ton of calories in my workouts let alone all the landscaping, digging holes, crop planting and what not during the week.

I could easily eat 3500-4000 calories or more and maintain.  When I work, I work hard and fast.  Ever try sawing a Pecan Limb with a handsaw?  You will be covered in sweat in 2 minutes and if you do that for 4 hours or so, you will have burned more than a days worth of calories in sawing alone.  Way more.

I'm sure you don't just sit around all day but I would assume you are not burning the copious amounts that Eugene was either. So I'll make a guess that you are also burning around 800 per day over the 3200 maintenance. So 600 plus 800 is 1400 per day over your basic needs..so you are in a caloric deficit of 9800 per week or 2.8 pounds of fat per week that you are currently losing?

My TDEE (total daily energy expenditure) is around 3200 calories with zero activity.  That mean I can eat 3200 and not gain any fat.

I was 180 last week at wake up.

Today I am 176.2.
I will update my challenges to reflect this as well.  I haven`t updated in a day or two but did workout consistently.

I lift heavy weights 5-7 days a week by the way.

exactly thats why its impossible to eat a percise amount according to your metabolism, even the moon effects metabolism do you think adonis has accounted for the moon

same goes with the weather/temperature. does his die account for temperature effecting maintenance caloric needs? NO i didnt think so
